She barked constantly. She annoyed everyone within 1/2 block radius with her barking. We tried everything to get her to stop, but she barked regardless of the consequences. She followed me around and barked for 5 minutes every time I came home--it didn't matter if I had been gone for 2 weeks or 2 minutes. She barked at exactly 7am and 5pm every day until someone fed her. Until today when she lost her brief battle with an intestinal tumor. Daisy; 2002-02/25/2016

Sorry for your loss. Dogs are awesome and we certainly gain as much from them as we could ever offer them. Godspeed Daisy.

I too am sorry for your loss. I often think of, and miss, the dog we had when I was growing up. And that was decades ago.
Daisy will never leave you.

I'm sure Daisy was happy to have a great home and family to bark for. Sorry for the loss...always sad to see them go.

Sorry my friend. Hell, I cry when one of my chickens dies. Pets are part of our family, and losing one is never easy. She had a good life and annoying neighbors is a good thing. Dogs are the best security systems you can get.

True story: on my daughter's birthday 3 years ago, we left to have a quick dinner at about 6pm. We came back 45 minutes later to find the back door open and splinters on the floor around it.
As my brain was trying to process the information that someone had broken into our house, Daisy came downstairs with her eyes half shut and lazily wagging her tail looking like a teenager who was awakened at 5 am.
She let whomever it was walk right in and take whatever they wanted.
Thanks for listening--it makes me feel better to talk about it. Doges are special creatures.

Man sorry for your loss. It's like Spock losing Kirk.
What breed?

Man sorry for your loss. It's like Spock losing Kirk. What breed? She was a sable and white rough Collie. Basically a Lassie (or a Laddie for the Simpsons lovers). We got her from a collie rescue when she was 6. Her prior asshole owner abused her and it took her a good year or so with us before she let her guard down. Collies are fun around little ones because they will literally try to herd kids.

I lost my boxer to thyroid cancer almost immediately after relocating to Chicago. That 1-2 punch of a transition (not to mention moving here during the crazy winter of '13/'14) was an emotionally draining period. I still get easily choked up thinking about him at times. Similar to Daisy I had rescued him from a very rough life and was lucky to have him around for the next 6 years.
Un/Fortunately there are no shortage of dogs in need at the various rescues in the area when you're ready to move on. My current two dogs were rescued from P.A.W.S. and Felines & Canines. Alive Rescue is also a really active rescue in the area.

Boxers are cool. We have friends with one and she's an insane bundle of energy.
Once the sting subsides, we will get another rescue dog, although after a collie and prior to her a border collie/aussie shepherd mix, we are frankly ready for a non-shedder.
My 12yo son clipped a few locks of her hair last night, and I was thinking "WTF? Her hair is *everywhere*, just pull some off of your sweatpants (12yo boys don't wear jeans) or out of the vacuum cleaner."

On of our last dogs also died of an intestinal tumor. My ex said she 'rescued' him from her ex-boyfriend but I think she just took him. Our sister-in-law is a vet and was the one we chose to euthanize our dog. When the time came I held our dog in my lap and watched the life go out of his eyes. My ex walked away crying. To this day i'll never understand why she walked away and couldn't bear to be at his side when he died. Anyway, it sucks to lose a member of the family
