St. George Terroir Gin - made here in nutty California no less. If you like Gin, it's a work of art. They have 2-3 others as well that are excellent, but this one is my fave.

Found this in a clearance bin, at my local store. Last bottle, 20% off. Newer distillery, about 100 miles west of me. Heard some good things, thought I'd give it a go...

My Grandpa brought this back from Japan when he was in the Navy... I keep meaning to fill it with a half decent Japanese whiskey, but Im 95% beer these days so its just never happened. Anyone recommend any that're accessible to a Seattleite?

Hibaki and Yamazaki are both excellent. Stick to 10-12 years, older is milder, loses its edge and is much more expensive.

Just about anything from 2000 and 2003, Taylor Fladgate and Dows have been my favorites, but Grahams has been surprisingly good too.

I'll take the Hibiki 12 every day tyvm. I like the Yam, but prefer the floral notes of the Hibiki 12, the delicate complexity. Very much like Four Roses. (edited to add Hibiki 12, that other stuff they have been peddling is not nearly as good as the 12) Finished off a bottle of Eagle Rare (old standard, when I could get it all the time) and switched off to Elijah Craig (new standard, no longer 12yr). My kingdom for a case of early 2000's Lot B? (PVW 12yr wheated bourbon, cherry picked Buffalo Trace Old Weller)

Another bargain bin find. $20, from my local store. I might as well have stolen it..... It's a 2 fingers, neat, kind of night.

I have gravitated more to whiskey in my life's journey, but I've been indulging on some Pyramid Snow Cap Ale, which is a hoppy seasonal brew this time of year.
