Reddit's GYW is looking for those interested in joining in a MTO for a pair of Trickers x Superdenim Black Shell Bulchers. Here's an album of a previous done pair.

That one doesn't excite me, but some of these Tricker's MTOs can be interesting, although I've always missed out as I never seem to see them in time.
It would be good to have some sort of alert, or even a list of what sites do them. I knew about SF, and now I know about this new one.

nice looking but I think brown would lend itself better to a casual shoe

Black shell is like buying a melted trash bag or patent pleather. If I had 76 pairs of shell shoes and boots in brown, green, navy, etc, I might buy a pair of black shell out of pity, but otherwise, no.

$600 for shell trickers is a sweet deal, though. And that's definitely the right last for 'muricans.

It's too shiny and looks like pleather. Idk what they do to theirs, but I don't like it. Rancourt dyes their shells themselves, and I think it develops a far more beautiful patina.

Alden adds an acrylic glaze to their shell boots to give them that extra shine. It's not just their black shell but all their shell boots. Regardless of what Rancourt does, I would buy a pair of Aldens over a pair of Rancourts any day of the week.

Have you handled a pair of Rancourts before? I have 2 pairs, and they're SOLID. Not saying opulent grab some black shell Alden's though... I'm considering the black shell tankers actually.

I haven't handled a pair of Rancourt boots. I just own a pair of boat shoes by them, made for JL Powell a few years back. But, I wouldn't have the opportunity to handle a pair of Rancourts in person, as there's none around me and at the price points they release their stuff at, or just a little higher, I like other options.
