I have a specific question but also think this could be a pretty good thread to pile on in the future. At what point is a is it acceptable to ask a manufacture for a repair/refund due to a defect? Should we just live and let live or demand a better product? Basically, I don't usually make complaints and am trying to figure out when is appropriate. My specific question involves the button hole on this cardigan. As you can see in the picture, the stitching is coming loose after about 20 wears and is likely to get worse in the future. Should I ask for a repair or is that just "what happens" in you guys' experience?

If you don't ask you won't get. For sure not up to par with so few wears. For me it's a test of a company's integrity. If they want to sell you anything else they will do something.

Honestly, I don't feel like "WabiSabi" and "send it back to the company to fix threads on a buttonhole" belong in the same sentence.
If your wardrobe is pro-wabisabi, get your own needle and thread, and "fix it" to the best of your abilities.
If you prefer a more immaculate, manicured look, send it back

Contacted the company and they said they'd repair it, no cost to me. Normally I'd probably let this go but I was just on Roy's website yesterday and right there on the front page he's saying that the buttons used in his RS5 jeans are defective and he's recalling every pair to swap the buttons out. Pretty impressive gesture from a one man brand. I imagine that's going to cost him a significant amount of time and money; it got me wanting a pair of his pants even more as well as that higher level of QC.
