Green's shoes make a certain amount of sense. A shiny dress boot makes about as much sense as a suede suit.

...just a PSA on Viberg for you...if you're not able to return, I'd wait until you can try them on. I jumped on a pair and wasn't very happy with the fit/weight on them and am stuck with them now even though I followed all sizing advice. Also, for the money, the build quality wasn't comparable to Alden which is surprising since Alden shoes usually have their own share of issues. Hmm..There isn't a Viberg near me, closest being in NY. What size brannock are you, what size/last did you go with in Viberg? I was told to go a full size down in 1035, and half to a full size down in the 2030. I'm a 12 and went down to 11 on the 2030 per advice I received. Just giving some warning - maybe I got the poor side of advice as you're sizing advice would've helped me out.

People compare it to the Barrie and Trubalance last, which makes no sense to me. I take Barrie in 9, and Trubalance in 8.5. But the 1035 is definitely a full size down as it is a wider last and Vibergs tend to be long, at least from the many many reviews I've read.

Those look fantastic.

Count me in the camp that thinks these are super ugly. But style is subjective! They look like ladies shoes to me, man. So do those black ones. Just my subjective opinion.

They look like old people shoes.... in a bad way. Tradition doesn't equal to excellence. The Brits have to find creative ways to get people to look at something other than their yellow teeth.

They look like ladies shoes to me, man. So do those black ones. Just my subjective opinion. There's definitely a European influence with some of their shoes. Not my cuppa tea personally but there are guys out there that like a more elegant dress boot, versus those of us that prefer a simpler pair of shit kickers

To be fair, if you're as good at something as Bruce Lee was in martial arts, you can wear whatever the hell you want.

Nobody would ever confuse me for bein' elegant. the EG Galways would be perfectly suited for business professionals of all stripes but it really depends on the individual, as they could easily be dressed up or down. There are several gents over at SF that have amazing dress shoe collections that I admire. Some of it is out there but then there's stuff that simply look amazing. I'm glad I don't have a dress shoe addiction because that would really put me in the poor house. My Grail shoes are a pair of St.Crispins or Vass.

Speaking of Edward Green, I have a pic laying around of a pair of their brogues that I really dig. They're called the Weymouth and I think they were a MTO through Leffot awhile ago. Very handsome shoes....right up there with the Beaulieu austerity brogues
