Not Gustin related but wasn't sure where to post this. Just bought something off Global Rakuten for the first time. When I got the paypal receipt I noticed it was to a non-Japanese person's name, and it was a name coming from a country that tons of counterfeit goods come out of. I looked at their profile and they had good reviews, and they have a Japanese address but they also had a pic of a storefront that didn't look Japanese in the slightest. But I guess I'll get my answer of where it came from after the package arrives. Just wondering if anyone's had any experience with counterfeit goods on GR. The item was a pair of Buzz Rickson gloves btw. Here's the URL: global.rakuten.com/en/store/frisbee/item/10001094/

A Google search doesn't set off any alarms... I see positive stuff on Reddit and SuFu.
I've seen the stores in Rakuten, but just haven't had the need to buy anything from it myself. But, I think generally speaking, the businesses through Rakuten should be good to go. You can't even maintain a PayPal business account over here without a valid business license and proof of all of your "books".

I bought from. Rodeo, Vari, Frisbee. My Buzz Rickson loopwheeled sweatshirt is authentic from Frisbee.

oatwilly Ive bought from Frisbee before, no issues at all. The tag on my IH shirt that showed up says "Iron Heat" and it was made in Mexico but other than that it's all good.

I meant a board that you can add threads to.

I meant a board that you can add threads to. Because rakuten isn't a brand or a vendor? The only thing specific to rakuten would be talking through logistics of ordering from such an international portal. The only value I see from a specific board would be to have individual threads for each rakuten vendor, but there is nothing stopping that from happening in the existing vendor board. If there's a deal found somewhere those can equally go into the existing deals board. What sorts of threads would you for see going into a rakuten board?

And looking into the future, I'm not going to be part and parcel (no pun intended) to your wive's, girlfriends and mortgage holders coming after us for irresponsible spending.

I figure enough people have used Rakuten that we could have separate threads for each vendor on Rakuten. Also, any proxy services used, reviews of products received, and if anything like this came up, we could have a thread for it. Also, any questions people may have could have its own thread.

i'd say there's no reason the vendors couldn't be in the normal vendor board. there are only a small handful that get frequented. 'general' rakuten questions could continue in the general rakuten thread. i'm all for appropriate organization/compartmentalization...but i don't see the value in having a board specifically for a subset of vendors (and if so, it should be a sub-board of the existing merchants board). we already don't use the functionality very well...we have dedicated boards to some brands yet very few people make dedicated threads and instead continue to use the 'general' thread in each topic.
