Luther's Denim
I took a chance on Luther's Denim, hard to beat $100 for unsanforized selvedge Cone denim, with the standard trimmings. I am a big fan of heritage cuts, so the '55 model was my first purchase. The fit and look far exceeded my expectations, so I ordered the '66 model, which has become one of my favourite pairs on account of the fit and overall details. For $100, these jeans are a steal, and I definitely recommend the brand to anyone interested in Made in the US heritage cuts using unsanforized Cone denim.

A lot of manufacturers seem to equate raw selvedge with unsanforized, but Cone has certainly upped production on their unsanforized denim. They've got some pretty great taste in movies, though, and it looks like they're going to need to rebuild their rdio lists somewhere that hasn't been purchased and shut-down.

Not a fan of the back pocket stitching for some reason. Also, their lack of Japanese crime films is a head scratcher

Also, their lack of Japanese crime films is a head scratcher They do specify England, LA, and NYC, so that would exclude most Japanese crime film. I'm not sure why they're limiting themselves in that particular way, though. They also seem to have stopped updating the list (or watching movies) in the 90s, though. Watched Lady Snowblood yesterday, gotta love revenge-seeking karma demons.

The brand says that the fabric is unsanforized, and there are a number of reviews on Reddit indicating the same thing. A hot soak of the '55s resulted in the standard shrinking common with unsanforized denim. I went with the information at hand, and, more importantly, my initial experience with the fit of the '55s convinced me to purchase the '66s, and both are spot-on for me, which doesn't happen very often. Unless this is a metaphysical question?

blacktower - fair enough. Do they vanity size at all or what sizing advice would you have regarding waist measurement and all that business?

Perhaps, but nearly every shoe manufacturer also says they run true to brannock. they may say true to size but they don't disclose how they're measuring.

Not a fan of the back pocket stitching for some reason. Also, their lack of Japanese crime films is a head scratcher Hi, Chuck from Luther's. What are some great Japanese crime flicks? I would have expected somebody to call out the lack of a Hong Kong list before one for Japan. The denim is unsanforized and the jeans are tts. We measure using what I commonly see referred to as the "Blue in Green" method. I can explain further if that isn't helpful.

If you or anybody else is interested in helping put together a list of the best 10 or 20 Japanese crime let me know. Same with the Hong Kong stuff. If a couple of people are interested I'll start entries on the Luther Movie site where we could hash it out. You can email me at: help@luthersdenim.com if your interested. I don't want to jam this up with movie talk and piss people off.

You have to ad these two films to your list Shark Skin Man and Peach Hip Girl- English title. also Japanese title (Samehada otoko to momojiri onna) by Director: Katsuhito Ishii
And Gozu from Director : Takashi Miike I love both films for their general weird Japanese sense of humor.

These are all interesting but I think The Bad Sleep Well is probably more up his alley.

Finally saw Lady Snowblood. What a fantastic movie! I could watch the second scene where she walks along the wall in the snow with her Parasol over and over, it's so beautiful. Great story and cinematography.
