I see this brand float around the selvedge web world, but I don't own a pair. I'm currently perusing ebay seeing what I can snag from them at a fraction of the price, and I was curious to know what you all think of them.
Any experiences with Edwin? Any positive or negative word of mouth?

Following on from DirtyDenim's post, I have a couple of pairs of Edwin jeans and they're pretty much the same level as Nudie. Over here, just about everyone I know who gets into raw denim does so via Edwin and Nudie initially.
Equally, both brands have so many cuts, washes and fabrics that it's not really possible to give a blanket statement about their products... but the levels of construction are almost always high and they're a solid, middle-tier brand for jeans.
Personally, I find their shirts to be the best items from their range.
One word of caution, buying Edwin online can be a tricky proposition as their sizing can vary quite dramatically even with the same model number. For example, the first pair I ever bought were ED-47s and the first pair of 32" waist I tried on were WAY too big (must have measured at least 34", probably more like 35") and yet the second pair - same model, same wash and from the same pile in store - of 32s were so tight I couldn't button them up. Eventually bought... a pair of ED-47s in a 32" waist that fit perfectly.
The pairs I've bought since have tended to run larger than tag size, but I'd always make sure to get the *actual* waist measurement of each pair if you're buying without trying on.

I "had" a pair that was over the top with selvedge on the back pocket & outside of the coin pocket. They were very light under 12 if i remember right . I bought them off of ebay as well . I later found out Edwin has different levels of the denim they put out. So my only experience was with the SEN selvedge with buckle back

I still have a pair of the SEN jeans. I believe they're 11oz selvedge, left hand twill. You're right, they do feel thin. They drape beautifully, though.
Little bit too much exposed selvedge and I'm not at all keen on the red zipper, but they are a classic Edwin model.

I’d like to bring this Edwin thread back into use! I bought a pair of Edwin Pride of Made in Japan rainbow selvedge recently - potentially the most expensive item of clothing I have ever purchased.
A few notes on my experience. The quality is phenomenal. The only other raw denim I own is a pair of Levi’s 511 selvedge (my first and much loved) and a pair of cheap Gap selvedge that I rarely wear but they do the job when needed. So, the quality is great - in comparison to these.
My Edwin’s are described as regular tapered and I really like the fit. The waist did run quite big, but I bought them anyway assuming a soak would sort that. It didn’t, so I had them altered at the waist and hem and now they look great.
Either way, I thought I’d bring this thread back and see if anyone else had tried Edwin - or even seen their pride of made in Japan denim?
