Ah thanks.
They do look nice.
Why did you get both cuts?
I'm going for the 901 as it's about exactly the sizing I favor.

As Dirty_Denim mentioned in a story in a different thread, when someone says no jeans I wanted to have the option of chinos

If it'll suffice I can dig up my photos of these two from gustin. The olive is the better of the two, though. Much more versatile and easier to pull off.

Easier to pull off. LOL.
Yes, I have a pair of blue Herringbones that I have yet to wear in the wild.
Much appreciated.

The indigo herringbone is about 450 times more subtle than the moss, and the olive punches well above its weight, the two feel nothing alike besides being spec'd near the same weight.

Yes, I had suspected that. 450 times is pretty bold for my tastes. Olive it is then. I'm feeling like the Japanese denim is going to be more suitable for my purposes than the Olive duck.

Agree 100% with these two comments. I returned the Gustin version of the moss herringbones as they were way too bright green. I own a pair of limited edition RRL slim jeans that use the identical olive selvedge and it is one of my favorite fabrics (& I own a lot of jeans). Agree it feels like 16-17oz and is very crunchy when new.

Thanks. Looks like Japanese Olive it is.
I suppose I'll do a cold soak to get rid of the crunchiness.

Olive vs Herringbone : The herringbone was washed several times before the above photo which muted them a bit, but shows the prominence and lack of subtlety of the herringbone. Here they are as they arrived: And the Olive on arrival:

Looks like the washes has made a big difference to the herringbones, nice to see. It definitely did, but don't think for a second they don't look like stripey pants from a fair distance, and will definitely draw more attention than regular ol' "normal" denim. I went ahead and put them on after the pictures, and coming from the Japan Union Blue (still raw) and the American Sixteener (washed several times), they absolutely felt like sweatpants since they seem so soft. The Japan Olive is still raw, though I imagine a lot of the stiffness is starch on those guys, and I'm not quite ready to wash it out yet.

What did you guys end up doing for these two options?
Not certain how to proceed with these.
Thanks!

Mike said our jeans look better!!!!! HAAAAA I probably agree with him. You guys have details like fully lined back pockets, the loop on the left pocket that I can't figure out how to use, heavier pocket bags, and a lifetime warranty. How's the training going with the new folks, they getting up to speed?

You guys have details like fully lined back pockets, the loop on the left pocket that I can't figure out how to use, heavier pocket bags, and a lifetime warranty. How's the training going with the new folks, they getting up to speed? HAAAA. thanks..Mike was freaking out....HAAAAA... the training ...wellllll... FUNNY STORY.. so we had a young women in ..from Texas..and said she can sew anything..so we showed her the shop and the sewing machines... the machines are all vintage..right!!!!..Mike saw that she was a little taken back and intimidated by the old machines...sooo she comes in the next day and we get her started..well the old machines are ruff and they make alot of noise...so after about 20 mins Mike and I see her crying behind one of the machines and Mike is thinking..OMG...SHE RIPPED HER FINGER OFF!!!...NO ...she was crying because the machines "ARE TO SCARY"..[ her words} so we paid her for the day and Mike and I had a good laugh at the end of the day.. so we have 1 guy we are borrowing for a local auto body shop 2 days a week to help.. but we need to get this workshirt program off the ground so i can get some people in here to speed the denim process up..the WORKSHIRT PROGRAM IS KEY..to get our denim out faster...the money that comes in from the shirt program will fuel the new people we need. the workshirt's are a fast turn since we hired someone to sew for us...sewing only.... 4-6 week turn..faster than our jeans now..ave too fund it with 30pcs or more at a time... Cheers Ciano

Thanks CF.
That makes it an even tougher decision for me as I really like the clean look of the chinos.
Much appreciated.
Can you explain how that back strap works? Does it function like a belt?

I also meant to mention, I'll take your copper rivets over most anything I've seen on another pair of jeans. The little C is a cute detail.
