who do you guys use for car insurance? I've been with Progressive for years but they keep raising my rates, even though i'm a Diamond member. I've paid around $87/month for 2 cars but they've now raised it to $91. This wouldn't be a big deal but this is the 2nd time this year they've raised my rates. surely there's gotta be an insurance company out there who isn't gonna nickel and dime me every 6 months

I found that they all do that. What works best for me is to shop around every 3 years. With 5 cars and 7 houses $5-10 each per month adds up.

Yeah, it's accident related. Doesn't have to do with me, but it could affect me later.

Yeah, it's accident related. Doesn't have to do with me, but it could affect me later. If I can help you in anyway I can. More versed in Rhode Island law but I do accident recon and stuff so I've gotten about 500 accidents under my belt.

On an unrelated note, does Rhode Island have a high number of drivers without insurance? Maryland is nuts it seems.

Yes it's insane. We don't have a law with bite like mass who has insurance attached right to your registration if you don't have insurance the insurance companies tell the state and they suspended your registration. Rhode Island and a lot of states you need to prove insurance when your register and renew your tags and of course on car stops. A ton will pay one month of the 6 or 12 month policy and default but they still have that card as proof and we can't check with insurance companies to see if it's valid. Basically they only way to know is if they get into an accident and when the other persons insurance company finds out they call use usually. It's funked up for sure.

Mass might have a law, but it gets flouted with regularity.

Yea, its total BS that insurance is mandatory, yet you need to carry uninsured motorist coverage for those who don't. WTF?
