I have checked Railcar and ABFits. They will no longer work on anything over 21 oz because the weight of fabric is not good for the machines. Self Edge apparently does not take mail-ins. Do you guys know anyone in the US who would be willing to hem my IH666 25 oz?

That stinks. I had railcar do mine a couple months ago. If there's no source for hemming I won't buy more unless they're close to 33".

Samantha at AB Fits told me they tend to limit their hem jobs to 18oz, but they may make exceptions. As for the 25oz dilemma, I have no clue. it may be a long shot but what about Tate+Yoko? I know they're in Canada but since it's owned by Naked & Famous and because they sell heavyweight denim they may be able to do it.

LOL j/k Could be, but it didn't effect the job they did. I looked at their site and they haven't added a by disclaimer about weight. Did you ask them? I didn't ask, just set it up through the web site and sent them in.

They told me it was a recent change because they're having trouble getting parts these days and the heavy stuff puts the machine at risk.

They're really not too difficult to wear, but they are nearly impossible to run in. I learned this when my daughter challenged me to a race. I still have a long way to go to get these broken in. They're still a bit on the stiff side.

I received my 25 oz IHs back from Ciano. He did a great job of hemming them when not many others would even risk touching the heavy fabric. I'm very happy with the service. It's a hem job with a personal touch of good ole' Texas bourbon.

jeffrx - i'm sending mine to the denim doctor (seriously), in Toronto. He won't be able to do a chainstitch but can hem them nonetheless.

jeffrx - yes - I live in Toronto - you're in Montreal right? No, in NJ. It makes sense for you to use the local guy though. At least you avoid shipping. On a side note, my grandfather was French-Canadian, from Quebec, so I do have some northern roots.

You're fired, whiskeyriver! Dammit! Railcar did such a great job on my IH 21/23 oz 634sr taper and hem. Now, I have to worry about getting my heavy stuff hemmed someplace else? You owe me a beer, man.
