After Labor Day, I started a new rotation of two new pair. Railcar X023 James (will post some comments in the Railcar thread) and Roy's RT1002. The Roy's were a splurge this past spring. When I first discovered raw denim, I remember reading about / seeing videos of Roy, so was always rather fascinated with his product. From a quality of construction point of view, these have to be the nicest jeans I've come across. If Railcar and IH are considered 10's, then these are 11's. Perfect stitching, high stitches / inch, fantastic quality thread and pocket bags. Railcar is probably a better quality/price ratio, but the Roy's are awfully nice. The denim is apparently loomstate from Cone. 13.5 oz pre-soak, 15oz post soak. I think it's beautiful stuff. It's not 20+ oz, slubby in-your-face PBJ or Oni stuff... let's call it a purist's denim. It has a rather even and tight look to it, but still has great texture after soaking. That said, this denim is an absolute indigo bomb... the water was dark blue after the initial soak (and the weft and pocket bags are now dyed a faint blue - but only noticeable if you're looking at the inside of the jeans). Given that I'm getting tired of crocking and given that I wanted to get a bit more shrink out of these, I did a subsequent hand-wash in the tub and put them in the drier a bit. This stuff shrinks up more than any other unsanforized denim I've owned - I was concerned when I first got them that they'd be too big (see pics for how big they were), but went through with the soak and pretty happy with the fit. This being loomstate, a fair amount of leg twist. Anyway, fit pics if you're interested: imgur.com/a/YnE6c

Very nice - would like to see some close-ups of the denim and the parts of the jeans that make these go to 11

Doesn't Roy have them milling his own special denim over at Cone now, or did that come after these were made? Also, which boots are those?

Marc, awesome stuff man. Thanks for sharing. I love what Roy is doing and I love how he uses Cone denim. I've always been drawn to the classic look of a solid pair of Indigo Cone denim which is probably why I like the Gustin Heavy Americans so much. I definitely want to pick up a pair of his jeans. I'm assuming you got these off of SelfEdge? I believe SE is actually the only place you can get Roy's jeans now isn't it? Would you mind sharing a link to which pair this is?

Marc what size did you go with? I'm curious what the rear rise is on those too. I hate how SE does not list the rear rise measurements.

Boots are the Oak Street Trench boots I got through Massdrop (natural Chromexel).
