These have been on my radar for so long and I finally think I'm going to pick up a pair. These eve pics pushed me over the edge I think. IH took their 21oz fabric and overdyed it black.

For some reason though I feel like the overdye shirt might be hard to pair stuff with for some reason?? but the pants I think not as much....I don't know maybe that sounds weird and it's just me. I love the overdye shirt but I just don't think I'd wear it with Indigo, I don't know, would have to see it in person I guess.

Those are pretty sick. I was just drooling over them today, too. They may have to be next on the hitlist. I just scored some IH-301s on ebay, and I love the 21oz denim so hard. Maybe they will satiate me for now...? My bank acct hopes so.

Have always like the overdye look. I had the 21oz 634 but the fit wasn't right for me. Would like a shirt and jeans. Great colors.

Received shipment of these today and what can I say....they are awesome. I had been contemplating getting these for quite some time now but I finally decided to pull the trigger on them and I am glad that I did. These are the 21oz fabric that a lot of us here know and what Iron Heart did with it on these is overdye it black. Over time the black fades way to the Indigo underneath and produces an awesome fade that is referred to as the "Atari" fade (see fade pics above).
I was a bit hesitant to pull the trigger on these for a while because I was worried that they would have a dark navy blue appearance to them when new (like the Gustin Cone BlueXBlack) as opposed to a dark black appearance which is what I was looking for. Well needless to say they definitely appear black when new so I was pleasantly surprised when I opened the package today. The first pic below is probably the closest representation to how they look in real life. These are just ridiculous, such a cool fabric with the black overdye...you really just have to see them in person. They are noticeably stiffer and crispier than the regular 21oz fabric which I'm assuming is due to the overdye process but they are definitely still comfortable right out of the bag. Once again just another unique and very cool fabric from Iron Heart that will only continue to look amazing as they fade.
I also want to give a shout out to their customer service once again. I was in between sizes on these (32/33) and there were I believe 13 total pairs left in stock at IHUK between the two sizes so I shot them an email with all the measurements I was looking for and they went through all of the size 32 and 33's they had left and found two different pairs that matched my specified measurements the closest and let me pick between the two. One was a tag size 32 and one was a tag size 33. I went with the tag size 33 as it actually had a 32.5" actual waist and had a rise that was on the lower end of the spectrum but still had the room I needed in the thighs. This pair turned out damn near perfect. The length was a bit longer than I wanted but I can either rock the two inch cuff that I have shown in the pics or I might even get them hemmed some time in the future. Anyways, awesome customer service from the IHUK crew once again.

Very nice. Funnily enough, I've been looking at these or the 21oz IH black as the only other jeans I'd consider buying now that I'm indigo'd and coloured up.
So what's the verdict?

wdw I just edited my post with my thoughts above. That's funny because I was in the same boat as you, I was contemplating between these and the regular black IH 21oz 634s like you. I even posted up a poll in the IH forum saying I was looking for a black pair of Iron Hearts and was deciding between the regular black 21 oz and these overdyes. The overdyes won the poll by quite some margin. That being said, I think that you can't go wrong either way. The regular blacks just don't look as black overall and will have the white weft popping through and also will not produce the awesome fades that the overdyes do. They still look like a great pair of jeans. Like I said, I'm glad I went with the overdyes but I don't think you can go wrong either way.

and sorry for the poor quality pics guys. I hate that I can't get good pics posted up here but I figure something is better than nothing. These pics probably don't do them justice but they look awesome in person. I highly recommend these.

Thanks for the detailed write up. These now seem more tempting than the regular black, but either is still great.

Thanks for the detailed write up. These now seem more tempting than the regular black, but either is still great. You're absolutely right, I think either will be great. Just a few more things to point out that might help you pick one or the other;
1. A cool little detail IMO about the black overdye is that the stitching is the contrast gold/copper stitching that's on the regular 21oz fabric but it appears that the black overdye doesn't exactly stick to the threads very well. So you still have a contrast stitching look to them but it produces kind of a faded, uneven, vintage look to the threads and jeans overall. In some spots the black dye sticks better to the threads than others but you definitely still have a contrast stitching appearance. Hard to explain and I might not be making sense but it's very cool
2. I've heard mention that the regular black 21 oz fabric almost appears dark Indigo in person and that at times it can be hard to tell the difference between them and the regular 21oz fabric until you actually put them side by side. Only then can you really tell that they are black. That's a comment I have heard about black warp/white weft jeans in general which I somewhat agree with, but I still love the look of blackxwhite denim.
Anyways, take that for what it's worth.

Yeah, I think I've gone off the plain black as not being different enough to the indigo. This overdyed black also looks great on the shirt and jacket. The only thing that puts me of the jacket is the usual short Type 3 length. Having said that, the shirt and jacket are both sold out, although I remember the shirt was on Rakuten at one point.

"Atari" fades are the name assigned to the common fade spots -- edges of seams, rear middle belt-loop, back-pocket corners. Given the garment overdye, the atari fades on this pair of jeans should be really cool, though. Rawr (now Heddels?) article is here.

Yeah, Rawr is now Heddels, which is remarkably stupid. We should rename this forum BeepBloop. ickes, those are extremely cool. Love the overdyed look.

Did they put up an article to say why they changed it? I suddenly started getting email from Heddels and when I looked at the content t was obvious they had changed, but I may have missed the one that said why. Edit: Nevermind as I find the link in the header: www.heddels.com/2015/10/welcome-heddels-long-rawr-denim/
