Has anyone had any raw denim downsized in the waist? I'm losing weight and my Onis are a bit loose. Want to take them down an inch. Railcar says they can do a complete rebuild, but they won't have denim to match the Onis. Antone taken them to a tailor and just had them cut an inch out of the waist?

I haven't done any denim alterations, yet. I think I'll be sending my 3sixteen sl-120x shadow selvedge off to Railcar in the future. Now that I've lost weight they've become unwearable so I'll need to have the waist brought in and the thighs, knees and hem tapered

Be mindful: it was stated a while back by someone here that Railcar won't be servicing super heavy denim anymore. I don't recall the exact cutoff weight though

I doubt a Taylor would touch them. They just aren't made to be altered, so a specialty shop is the way to go. I don't remember RCs price for this.

I won't have any none denim tailor touch my denim anymore! The typical local tailor simply does not understand/care about the nuances of a nice pair of jeans. They would balk at the idea of spending $100+ for a pair. So they treat, sew, tailor them like a typical $30 pair of Wranglers. Only go with a Denim spacific tailor.

I had a tailor associated with a local women's denim shop do it. She typically deals with lighter weight denims, of course. But, when I brought them to her, she didn't seem all that concerned. She charged me $35, and the results were positive. The only noticeable difference, the side seams continue up, through the waist band. I always wear a belt. So, it goes unnoticed. I had an inch(.5", per side) taken out. I will be having it done to my SG2109, at some point. They are going to need 1.5" taken out. Being that, the side seams are split down to the pocket rivet, and then tapered to the waist, I don't know that I would attempt any more than that, though. More taper then that, in such a short distance, may look a bit wonky.
