After all the detective work, I now really want the IHSH-129. Googled it, and saw Rebirth, and said no thanks. Not dealing with that proxy game again. Sucks, though. Think it looks fantastic.

But they're only expensive when you can't buy them on Rakuten. IHUK and SE both sell identical product to JP shops for nearly 2x the price. Your Harley example would be valid if say, the buyer were in the UK and had the choice to buy from US HD for $20k or UK HD for $40k, for the exact same bike. Guys saying they know what a $300+ shirt is like because they have an IHUK or SE shirt are funny. You have a $150ish shirt that you paid double tax and a premium for. It's still the retention of VAT that kills me, but SE has no excuse other than greed. And I know I'm wasting my pixels in this silly little cult area, I guess I just haven't poked the bear recently. I agree wholeheartedly with you on the taxes. I've never purchased from SE, because other than jeans, the brands they offer don't make sizes that fit me, and I refuse to pay the VAT which they pass on. My understanding is that SE is hit with it in their import price, and are not going to eat it themselves. The Harley example was only that they cut production, rather than reduce pricing. I wouldn't ride one if I had to pay an extra 20%. Maybe the dealers overseas offer free oil changes for life for getting bent over, lol. I'm not gaga about all things IH, but they have a few products that I can find value in, and am patient to wait for someone to throw me a bone at a discount

Can someone tell me if IH sizing on Rakuten is the same as IH UK? I sent an email. And got a reply in Japanese. I'm keen to finally jump on IH jeans, just want go make sure I get it right. The sizing chart I'm looking at only goes to 36. I'm looking at some 634 in 38 or 40 Thanks

That's the strategy I would use if I were you. I've ordered at least 10+ IH items that way and it has always worked out for me.

Cheers mate. I did compare them to IH uk. They looked close enough. The sizing guide on Rak was only going up to 36. With these heavier denim(21oz) I'm between sizes, should I go up or down?

Can someone tell me if IH sizing on Rakuten is the same as IH UK? Sizing should be the same. Sometimes JP inseam lengths are shorter, that's pretty much it though. Agreed. FWIW, I have only the 666s-19L, I ordered from Rodeo Bros. But, the specs were dead on with IHUK, with the exception of a 1" shorter inseam.

Thanks so much for your help guys. I'm going to go 38 instead of 40". Wearing them lots should stretch it out a tad, better than being loose when new. A bit of inventive to swap the fish and chips for a salad roll. I'm going to use VARI. They have free international shipping. Hopefully they are reliable. Thanks again guys.

Yeah if you are in between sizes I think you can definitely get away with going with the size down on this 21oz fabric. Like unnamed said the 21oz fabric is an easy one to stretch.
Hope they work out for you. Enjoy!

Just got an email,
West 38/98cm 40/104cm (waist) IH UK 38 101.3cm 40= 105.9cm it's a decent difference I think? Maybe I should go the bigger ones just in case? I'm also wondering if the Rakuten guys are measuring accurately. It's the jacket measuring on eBay mystery all over again!
hip 128cm 132cm I don't know what a hip measurement is?
length 90cm 90cm length OK, not much diff.

It's been said before here, best to go with IHUK sizing on the assumption that IH sizes everything consistently and doesn't make different cuts for Japan and the rest of the world .
The individual shops often seem to do their own measurements and there's no guarantee that they do it the same way or even accurately.

Thanks Erik, that was my line of thinking. It's like looking at aeros on eBay, the tag says 46 but the measurements are all sloppy! Will go ahead and see how I go. Thanks again guys, much appreciated.

I'm wondering why no Japanese sites have them showing?
