Also note that the pockets have side entry! The pockets are what held me away from Gustin's chore coat.

Whether that matters to you or not is up to each person. Doing chores means not having your hands in your pockets, as my father would insist...

Got "Mr Randal" on the G forum on posting a very subtle message about this jacket... thanks, Matt.

I posted pics yesterday of the chore coat I've worn for years, and have never once thought, "this needs side entry pockets." I would have never thought about it until someone mentioned it, but I do find myself with my hands in the top-entry pockets quite a bit, and it isn't awkward at all. That's not to say the side entry wouldn't be a nice feature, it's just that after a decade+ of wear, I've never pined for them.

i have a ts project coat in standard duck. definitely cut more relaxed than Gustin's offering...almost too roomy around the waist. i like mine quite a bit, and do appreciate the combination of pouch/patch pockets and handwarmer pockets (especially on windy days), but i wouldn't pay full price for it. if you're interested, get it while you can get the funding discount. i got the duck canvas version for just slightly more and wouldn't want to have paid much more in terms of what you get. for full price i'd rather spend a bit more and go with a tellason coverall jacket.

Same as authentic military jackets, as you wouldn't want to be standing around with your hands in pockets. Myself, thats why I didn't buy a Gustin version, because I didn't like the open pockets on the bottom, and would prefer the side entry feature. I wear a Filson Cruiser a lot when the weather turn South, and use the pockets for hand warmth, as I don't always carry gloves.

That looks like a black one on the video, kind of bummed that black isn't in the offering. I might have to back that, though. How is the water repellency, and does it breath any more than the gustin waxed chore coat or is it going to be a pretty similar experience. Anyone know?
** EDIT - Looked again, and it's the olive, not black, in the video -- it helps if you play videos, I've now found. **

It actually feels less smothering than the waxed canvas Gustin coats, if that makes sense. It feels like it is more breathable. They are VERY stiff and crispy when brand new, like cardboard...you could probably stand it up on the ground on it's own much like a pair of heavy raw denim. The TS coat would be more like a crispy, heavy, super starchy pair of raw jeans while the Gustin jackets would be a heavy jean with a bit of a softer hand.

Just got mine. Im 6'1 145lb and had to exchange a 38 for a 40. I felt it was was to snug in the shoulders and arm and length was too short. I still feel its a little shorter than i thought or compared to Gustin (which i dont have, just by pics) but i can get used to it. The bottom seems a little loose now but not unwearable. The shoulders and arms are perfect in the 40.

The bottom seems a little loose now but not unwearable. Actually I've decided the waist is to big for me. I dont like how it flares out in the back almost like a cape. Buttoned up its not so bad but it looks bad to me. Is it possible to get this coat tailored? Edit: I was think maybe its because its just too stiff right now? Will is soften up/ break in causing it to drape better. I really want to make this work.

I don't like how my ts project jacket flares when it is unbuttoned either (non-waxed), but when buttoned it is fairly trim, not sure how they pulled that off

I do 42 in TS shirts, and they are a little loose but I tried 40 in the indigo ticking stripe and it was too tight...so I've stuck with 42 and hope that the shirts shrink in the wash/dry (I haven't washed any of my TS shirts yet...gross I know...). I went with a 42 in the jacket at it's similarly a little loose, but that's over a Buzz chambray and nothing else, so if I am wearing anything thicker, and once the jacket becomes more moulded, I'll probably be happy with the bit of extra room. And also it's a jacket and I'm cool with it. If 42s are fitted on you in TS shirts, and you want a little room in a TS jacket, you might go with a 44.
