I love the Gustin consept, I think they are extremely good at dropping the right stuff. I also think they are very good at customer service through mail. I do think they have a problem with timing the drops, though. For example, that CPO should have been posted in July/August, because it's becoming time to wear that right now. They have to be one season ahead all the time. That's just ridiculous if you ask me..I mean stuff being released in the wrong season means it wont be seen till next season which also means we wait for it to be made & then have to wait another year to wear it.

I agree 100% We pitched the idea of a CPO shirt to Gustin several months ago, and I think a lot of us thought we would see something by now. The problem I see is that it just takes them too long to bring it to market. That is what intrigues me with Lawless in that they can take an idea, make a design, tweak it within a couple days, and put it up for sale. I prefer that model much better. The Beasts came first week of July. Not great timing.

They definitely need to take a hard look at seasonality. I don't want to buy a CPO or 18-23oz denims in summer but if they're not arriving until mid-late autumn then it's a no-brainer. Buying 10oz denim for winter makes no sense to me. They're missing their windows. But hey, the stuff's still getting backed - I'd just rather stock my cupboard when it's needed.

I don't know why this Zimbabwe 18 is calling my name. Probably because I would never buy it otherwise and I have the exact amount of store credit. Pull the trigger then, man! If I still had my store credit sitting around I'd be in on those for sure. For me, the only thing holding me back would be the possibility of a CPO drop before the Zim18's fund.

Yup, I learned to buy seasonally while waiting on my first bespoke leather jacket. Since then, I buy for the next season, and someone isn't hitting the nail on that head...

and looks like a pocket with a slight rotation Just noticed that. I have one shirt in my closet with these exact flaws. A 32 dollar flannel from Tillys that is is patterned with vintage looking blue with orange stripes (Bronco colors). My Tillys shirt apparently would have cost 175 dollars in a San Francisco boutique Had I known that I would have picked up a few of them. Lost opportunity I suppose. On the original topic of this thread though, I'm out of the G jeans game. 6 months ago I would have jumped at the Zim 18's. Old26 hit it on the head though, I don't like having too much stuff from one maker in my closet. LD 18.5's from KS are due and some PBJ's are coming my way in the mail. I've got 7 pairs of G. I'm good. That's too many really but hell I like 'em all and I've sold the stragglers and runts to good, loving homes. G shirts - MAYBE if the tall fit comes and I see solid colors I like. No way on any patterns. Workshirts - Postal and Wabi Sabi backed and I'm currently in the brownxblack as well. It's likely I'll sell either the sakibomber or the postal depending on how they look in person. If the quality is off or the fit is weird, the whole works will get sold and I'm out of G WS's Don't care for any of the G jackets because the fit sucks on me. CPO - maybe, if it's in the next two weeks or so. Maybe. Belts - The basic G belts are ok at abasic price, but not a good deal at all for the price being charged. I have one (a roller) that I bought on a lark and was bummed when I opened the package. The roller buckle has a seamed roller (this is a two dollar buckle at retail, guys) and the leather was good quality but the burnished edges were minimally worked and overall, it was just OK. Not even close to what G says as far as "this would cost blah blah blah). It would be better if they just said raw edges, because raw edges are cool too and that's really what you're getting. Stinky's belt was much better and would have cost 45-60 dollars at a ....oh wait....where have I heard that. The heavyweights/1.75's look cool as hell and I hear they are a notch up on quality but I do leather so I'll make my own. Duffle is great but that's it for me on that game. Maybe a matching messenger bag but the price would have to be a steal given the wait time. In short (thank for finally ST-ing the FU Steve lol) It's going to be slim from here out at G for me. It's been a good experience, now I know all you guys here in the rouges gallery. This forum is where I'll be most of the time from now on, G live feed has lost it's luster for me.

I've been browsing KS for these up and coming companies in the leather and craft game - I've seen some good options for complimentary goods (messenger bag or otherwise) that works well with the accents (leather) or straight up with the canvas of the duffel.

Legit question regarding Gustin - have we (we meaning the die hards in their community) reached a point of saturation with their denim? Look at all the unique drops from G of late, and the jeans aren't flying "off the shelves" as they once did. Worse still, IMO, is the fact that an inexpensive, great quality pair like the HAs are only at 70% backed with just 5 days to go even though they were launched as part of the $1000 fade competition. We don't know how many pairs are usually snapped up by repeat customers, or whether Gustin have almost reached a point of critical mass where they're now essentially selling through just as a regular retailer would - but still with the notable downsides (to the customer) of their model - but there isn't *quite* enough new comers to sell-out the previously 'reliable' pairs. In the 'early days' (I realise I was fairly late to the party), it felt as if Cody, Stephen and Josh really were all part of the process involved with our orders, with each pair of jeans. As time's gone on, I've started to realise that's not the case. I suspect the most involvement anyone at Gustin has with the finished jeans is, maybe, helping to take them to them post office when there's a big batch to go out. Previously, I'd have likely backed the 18oz Zimbs within an hour of their announcement and been genuinely excited about it. Now, the entire process just fills me with dread because my experience up until now has taught me that the finished pair will come in too small and involve me having to jump through hoops (almost literally) in order to salvage (no pun intended) them and have them become wearable. When I've got so many other pairs that I can just put on and know they fit perfectly without having to bunny hop round the room for 10 minutes, it becomes almost impossible to justify acquiring jeans that don't conform to spec. One of the aspects about Gustin that initially impressed me and motivated me to back their product was their huge focus on the Fit Guide and ensuring both they and the user strived to ensure their jeans arrived bang on target. I now realise that it was all basically bollocks. The Fit Guide is virtually pointless and you end up just getting whatever measurements you end up getting. Some on spec, some about at tolerance and some way under tolerance. We may run it in different fabrics, but you can be confident that the fit will be the same one you love each time. Just... no. I have four pairs of 33Slim here and they all fit and measure differently. In fact, the only consistent measurement is the waist - all four came in +/-0.5" of 32" but even then there was a 0.6" difference between the smallest and 'biggest'. As many of us have said, it IS an industry wide problem. It's not just Gustin, but I have never, ever purchased four pairs of jeans in the exact same size and cut from any other manufacturer and had them ALL come in well under a size too small.

For me, I'm just tapped out on denim. Before jumping on the G train I never had more than 2 pairs in my closet. Now I have 3 in the closet and 3 on the way. That's enough denim to last me 10 years!

Trick is to live in the southern hemisphere. We're constantly half a season behind and usually get the US hand-me-downs but this works spot on

Can we turn this into a rolling "new drops" thread? Tuesday 10/12/14Jeans: #175 Black X RedJeans: #143 Bright WeftShirt: The Classic ChambrayCPO: Woolrich Grey HerringboneCPO: Woolrich Camel HerringboneI love the look of the classic chambray, but STILL NO MOMMYEFFING TALL OPTION! The Bright Wefts are an absolutely fantastic value at $80. Even though I sold mine to another member here, I would recommend them without hesitation to anyone who wants a pair of entry level raw denim, or a nice medium-weight beater pair, or a super starchy pair with great fade potential. Black X Red is neat, but not really my style. Those new CPO wools look way too light (color, not weight). Pass.

I have to give kudo's to G though - the blackxred is selling pretty fast - already at ~60%. I heard shipping to Canada has gone up to $23 which amazes me. I order stuff from the US all of the time for $10.

I agree that it might look good down the road, but way to lightweight for me. I know the heavyweight denimhead types are not Gustins bread and butter customer, so I am glad to have what I have gotten, but figure they won't be offering much that will interest me. I'm really hoping that Roman can pick up the baton, and run with it.
