Received a couple pairs where they forgot to add this. Should I take them to a tailor and have them add it? Is this something a regular tailor is equipped to do?

What weight is the denim that you received where this is missing? I remember from the old G forum that they (Cody?) mentioned that the bar tack was not being added due to sewing needles breaking and sewers getting hurt. I believe this was the case on the heavy offerings of the time (18+ oz). I don't recall if my American Sixteeners are missing it. I don't believe so.
Note: Really didn't think my 1000th post would be in reference to crotch bar tacks. Could be worse, could've been wasted somewhere in the Lawless threads.

My only pair that was missing the bar tack, were the Super Heavy 18oz. No worse for wear, and probably isn't necessary to keep them intact, but I suppose it is there for a reason. My 26oz pair, has the bar tack, so I think it is something that is missed by the sewers, and not to be blamed on denim weight. I remember at the time, there were lots of G customers complaining about missed bar tacks on different offerings. Personally, I think I would just leave it, unless it were to start to come apart.

If I remember correctly it was the first run of the Loomstates that they first had the problems with breaking needles and therefore they don't have any bartacks. I'm not sure how much a missing bartack affects the durability but I'm quite happy that I don't have the red marks on them. They look a bit different than my other Gustins for that reason. I don't think you need to add them if they are missing. But I'm also not very good in blowing crotches.

it's two lighter weight pairs that are missing them, so it's not a fabric weight issue

It's not really necessary at all. It adds a little additional reinforcement but won't do much at all to lessen the chance of standard blowouts.

They're not at all necessary, but if you want them added, Gustin will do it fo you. At least they offered that to me for my pair with missing bar tacks.
