I got mine today and a size 4 fits me fine.
So in my world, Size 4 of this = JCr** XLT, Taylor Stitch 46, or Gustin XXLT

What would you say the overall quality is like northcoast ? Is it quite thick? Well constructed?

The sleeves are on the short side and wider as in the pic. So it's not a fitted smart looking jacket. But more of a comfortable real work chore jacket. Construction is Good/Great. The wool fabric is much thicker then a shirt, defiantly a coat.

I fit in TS 44 and a Gustin XL shirts. This is a size 3. The sleeve width at the cuff is 6" across, most of my shirts are 5". But this is a coat. (Still have Blue finger nails from dying with Indigo)

(Still have Blue finger nails from dying with Indigo) Thanks for the reply! I'm relatively tall/slender (trying to bulk up), so the measurements that they provided were a tad disappointing. I didn't necessarily want anything fitted, though this seems boxier than my Pointer chore coat as well. It seems great value though and don't think there'll be much of a chance to grab something at a decent price other than Black Friday. I'll have a think. Cheers again!

brunsBe careful with that fit guide (for the wool jacket at least). They have the size 3 as having a 22" chest. Mine measures up at 24.5" across.

Bit worried about the fit; may just be how it's modeled here but it doesn't look great. Well DigDug covered the construction, and it is great. You are right on the fit. Mine hits my wrists exactly as the picture above. What you cant see in any of the pics on HES site, or DigDugs pic below, is how when buttoned it kind of bells out at the bottom. So I'm going to thing about it, but right now I'm leaning towards returning mine because the arms feel slightly weird to me but mostly the large bottom making me feel like a bell. I'm 6'4" and while the wife said it looks fine, it makes me feel a bit awkward. Actually it reminds me of when I was little and grew out of clothes and at times had to wear them small. Just a bit awkward. But it does layer really well. Those wide sleeves allow for that. I had a flannel on and it's a perfect jacket to layer under a flannel and not sweat you azz off. That is a pretty strong argument for me to keep it actually.

DigDug To their credit they've provided more accurate measurements; the size 2 comes in at around 23.5 inches. Not the 22 inches I was hoping for but could have been worse! northcoast I'm 6'1 and was looking at a 2 so I wouldn't be swimming in the jacket but argh so unsure! If the fit was even slightly slimmer/sleeves were long enough on the size 1 I wouldn't have an issue in keeping the order at all!

I eventually returned mine and didn't order another. I liked it enough to consider a size 1, but those freaking sleeves are ridiculously wide.

Is there anything similar around? Happy to pay more if it fits/looks right. I've seen the Apolis chore coat mentioned around but it's perhaps a bit too smart for my liking. I really like the Post Overalls Engineer's Jackets in wool but way too expensive for what they are.

The wool jackets are definitely deigned for layering and to be worn over another jacket I would say, the cut of the other jackets by the brand is much more trim.

What about bringing it to a tailor.? Seems to be an easy fix to take in the sleeve width. And the price leaves room for a tailor.

Yeah, I was sort of grabbing the back of it at the hem to see what it would look like trimmer. Dart my jacket Mr. Tailor? But if I did that I would have to do the sleeves. It is just an odd piece.

If you want the apolis or post prices to look better, take a look through the jackets at Union Made Goods.
