Does anyone own a pair of the Iron Heart 816, 17oz Japanese Cotton Duck Work Pants? I'm thinking about buying these and any feedback would be appreciated.

I'm sure that brent will chime in david2403, but here is a link to these on the Iron Heart forum. I find it's very useful to read through the thread on the Iron Heart forums for any item you might be interested in. You'll find a lot of useful info from Giles and the forum members and usually tons of fit pics too. www.ironheart.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=4191.0

Yes I have the brown color 36 waist. I bought them used so I can not comment how they are new as far as break in or starch.
I can only comment on a washed and work pair. I absolutely love them.
Super casual/work wear. 17oz doesn't feel overly heavy and they are quite wearable. I liked them fall/winter/spring.
Sturdy I mean hell it's duck these aren't meant for a blazer and dress shoes but are right at home with a flannel and boots.
Construction is second to none. Hardware is exactly what you would expect from iron heart I like the left button pocket. Slant pockets are very usable very easy to get in and out of. Zipper fly also is very useful and I've came to like them on heavy fabrics and chino cuts.
I want another pair but really don't need them. They are awesome.
Compared to Ciano 18oz duck they do feel a little lighter but it may be more due to starch than weight.

Although I don't own these I do own the IH-707 Mercerised Cotton Work Chinos www.ironheart.co.uk/bottoms/ih-707.html .....and the IH-816 Duck Work Pants are based off of the same fit as the Chinos. So to comment on the fit, it's a spot on straight leg work fit...absolutely love the fit. My problem is that I can't decide which color to get. I like the brown ones that brent has but I also love the beige. I'll probably end up getting the beige.

I forgot to comment in the rise/top block.
It is a medium rise a more spacious top block. Straight leg but again mine are hemmed so I can't really comment for guys with longer legs.
Very comfortable easy wearing pants once worn in at least.

brentkuz what color tops and shoes do you wear with your brown ones? I'm still trying to figure out which color of the 816's to get, I would get all three if I could. When I look at the browns I immediately think a black top and/or shoes but I have a feeling someone in here is going to tell me that's against the rules. I really feel like black would look good with that shade of brown though. Or dark blue/indigo tops too.

Actually I think blacks, and indigos look great with brown duck, twill, etc. The trick to any of this is wearing it with conviction.

FWIW, A color wheel says, complimentary =blue, analogous =red & yellow, split complimentary = blue green -green

I also just got the Chippewa 1901M25 jcrew style. They are closer to cordovan in color. Also alden Indy 405 but they are a little too sleek with the 816s. Tops I love wearing my indigo 62 with it. 102 purple flannel other workshirt type shirts. Chambray, denim, flannel, chamois. Here's a personal style tip. I don't just go for color I also go for texture/visual appeal. You have a rough dense duck fabric pant makes sense to pair it with an equally rugged top. Not something flimsy which would pair better with a standard chino/khaki.

I finally pulled the trigger on these...went with Khaki. Hopefully I ordered the right size and I can cross off another IH staple from my list.

Had a hard time deciding whether to get brown or khaki and eventually ordered the khaki. The price was right and I almost ordered both colors.

Awesome you won't regret it! I would like a khaki pair but it would be over saturation at this point.

That's a very good point. It's not just a weak Yen relative to other currencies; it's also a strong US dollar relative to other currencies. Between the two, the spread is wider than it has been in a long time. If you happen to be earning US dollars it's good but maybe not good if you earn other currencies.

If it's any consolation, I just returned from Darwin 2 weeks ago, and though the dollar is stronger than the AUD, y'alls country is expensive as hell!!!!! AUD2.50 for a canned soda?!?!?
