A suggested page came up on my facebook for a new jeans start up stating to be based in LA CA that looked like a new Roman venture. Same sort of stuff with $69 selvedge denim with a blurb about why pay too much for selvedge denim, blah blah blah and the girl in the pics modelling the ladies jeans appears to be Laura. Thing is, I was at work so I didn't investigate further, thinking I would have a closer look at it when I got home, but then forgot their name. From memory it was some sort of abbreviation of the word Diesel, but now that I'm unable to find it I'm wondering if I'm remembering it wrong. Anyone here have a clue about this?
Found it. It's called DSTLD. Facebook: www.facebook.com/dstld web: www.dstld.com
They've replaced a lot of the photos I thought were very Laura-looking with pro model pictures, but the pricing mantra of $65 selvedge denim remains the same, and the men's jeans look exactly like the same old Romanesque Lawless/Free Riders design

Probably not them. They look to have a physical location in Commerce, CA for returns. This company, while cheaper denim, looks to be too buttoned-up to be anything run by those geniuses. Secondly, it doesn't appear that any of their denim is selvedge. It's listed as raw and from legit mills (Cone, etc.), but the denim doesn't have selvedge IDs. Makes it more of an economic offering.

Factor in the fact they have over 125,000 followers on Facebook, you can bet they've been established for some time. For certain, longer than it would have taken Roman to rebrand, and drum up that much support.

Enough of this thread - probably a good reminder for all to follow up with the AZAG!

With a quick Google search, I found this article from Elle magazine. There is no need to drag legitimate companies into this rumor mill, when there is easy access to info.

Roman Acevedo is now going under the alias "Rom Howard" and is living in San Diego, CA. He is my step fathers brother and is trying to get my family to invest in his business. It wasn't until I saw the reviews of the business that I realized he was trying to pull one over on not only you, the customers, but his own family. PLEASE submit your complaints. Bring justice to the situation.

Bring justice to the situation. I recommend you, as a family, deal with your problems (Roman Acevedo being one of them). We've expended more than enough energy here on this nonsense, I think you and your family are in a better position to shut this down than anonymous people on the Internet. Honestly, I'd rather he take money from his family than a bunch of people who can't do anything about it. This well is dry and I think we're all pretty sick of even hearing about this feckless miscreant.

Glad to see the voice of the consumer was finally heard. Unfortunately, with most fines levied, there is probably no timeline for repayment or consequences for failing to pay in a timely manner.

I know hell will freeze over before I see a refund. "As part of the judgment, the company will have to pay $250,000 in various fines and fees, as well as $10,000 to reimburse customers who never received their jeans and filed complaints." Yes, hell will freeze over first. Or more realistically, LD will file for bankruptcy protection and avoid the fines and fees.

Great to see some action on this. Will be interesting to see what happens now. Would be great for customers to get their product or refund.

This is cool.
Got a letter today as well from AZAG saying that because I filed a complaint I may be eligible for some restitution.
Honestly, I'm just glad that Roman wasn't able to cruise away without at least a little accountability / headache.

I wonder if it's worth re-pointing the AZAG to the open order thread. Maybe they will readjust the fine and repayment amount since I'd venture a guess that $10k would probably cover most of the monies owed but there's potentially more.

I feel like $10k might be doable, but that other fine will make R scoff at paying any of the amount.

AZAG posted a press release today. The consent judgment doc is a good read as well. The "Findings of Fact" section is spot on for the experience a lot of us had. Feels good to see the signed statement... Link to press release here: www.azag.gov/press-release/ag-brnovich-lawless-denim-refund-customers Thanks to AZAG and all the people who took the time to communicate with them. File a complaint if you never received what you paid for.

Aint that a b!tch..... I finally wrote off the $700 as a loss, and closed that chapter of my life..... I deleted the emails for my orders about a month ago... And the trash can is set to auto delete every 30 days.
*Over-exaggeration..... Just added up my losses, and it's $566.50.... Still a pretty good chunk of change

Nope! Saved by my lack of use of electronic devices! I stared up my old phone that hasn't been activated for about a year, and hasn't connected to the internet either... Since the mail app hadn't synced, the emails were still there. I clicked "FORWARD" on each one, and saved them as drafts, then connected to wi-fi and sent them to myself. Score for me!

File a complaint if you never received what you paid for. Just filed a complaint/refund request online. Will be interesting to see if the agreement extends to non-US citizens.

Wow, after all the twists and turns, revelations, this roller coaster ride has come to a very satisfying end (or the beginning of the end). The power of the consumer cannot be denied! Hope everyone is able to get their $$$ back. What a scoundrel.
