Same fit as the 12's you didn't like, just a more traditional contrast stitch and white weft. Have you considered the 19's? Suspiciously high rise, but more taper than any other PBJ cut. BiG should have all three in once washed if you want to try them on locally.

My issue with the 12 and 13 is that the rear rise is a little low, the thighs are a little tight and there's very little taper from the knee down. The 19's fix all of that, but I think they may have a little too much rise, and the current denim choice doesn't do much for me. Waiting on a tonal set.

Honestly if most companies made a 35 waist I think most of my issues would be fix regarding the waist and rear rise, but sadly I have to deal with a 36. Now as for the 19s the rise is slightly higher, which makes it different from what I'm use to. Which is why I didn't pick them up as well as them being of a more relaxed tapered.

The beauty of unsanforized and loose weaves is that it's not hard to get a 35 waist if you soak to about a 34-34.5". I tend to buy slightly undersized in the waist as it ends up working fine after a few wears, rather than being too loose and sloppy looking.

Im just scared that I'll soak them to long and they will shrink a bit to much in the waist and the length. I tried down sizing to a 34. Wasn't to bad in the waist, but the thighs and crotch area was to much to handle.

Hence a relaxed taper.

True. Maybe I'll go back to BiG and try them on when I have a chance.

Dat rise though. This is why I'm looking at Momotaro, Tanuki and some of the new Oni cuts.

Currently on Reddit there's a giver away for a pair of there slims in a size 36. 15oz double indigo unsanforized: https://www.reddit.com/r/rawdenim/comments/5wntw9/free_tanuki_giveaway/ Hopefully I'll win. If not then I'll have to shell out 285 for a pair Fromm Blue owl.

I just picked up the XX-011 (Lefthand Twill's) to complete my recent bucket list item (unsanforized and LHT). Grabbed a pair from Blue Owl. Granted, Denimio had a one wash for cheaper, but I had a good experience with Blue Owl on my Tanuki's and their recommendations on sizing have been spot on. I really want to soak and dial in these raw XX-011's myself.
I really like the near-grey weft on these. I'll post-up some pics when these arrive this weekend.

Wonder if this will reflect Rakuten sellers like the whole Iron Heart deal did, or only Okayama.

This is apparently the way PBJ wants to play, to keep some skin in the US game. With OD's and Denimio's ability to sell PBJ at roughly 35% less than BiG, and other US retailers BiG distributes to, something was bound to give. After speaking with a local shop owner, a few months ago, my understanding was, the US retail price we see from the likes of BiG, BOW, Mildblend, and others is fixed at around 4-5% over total cost. As much as this shop owner would've liked to carry the product, he couldn't justify any shop space for that low of a margin. For these more established retailers, PBJ is a draw to the store, the real profit is made on other products sold. But, with the significantly higher retail, not only are sales of the product down, the draw to see the products is diminished, as well. Personally, I would've liked to see PBJ take a more "middle of the road" approach... A smaller price increase from Japanese retailers, and reduced wholesale costs to US distribution. But, it's not my business... I had planned to nab the purple face, or cobalt, in the new cut. But, all of this has me changing direction. I had bonus points with OD, worth $25. So, I bought the XX-014, for $200, with the discount. To top it off, I used my PayPal Bill Me Later credit account.... 6 months, no payment, no interest. Take that, PBJ !

Yep, sharp turn towards Tanuki because of this.

So long PBJ, it was nice knowing you. I honestly don't see how they'll recover from the price increase. IH has a loyal following because they make clothing that fits most people, PBJ does not.

I agree the mark-up will noticeably turn some people away (as noted above). For me, it was about a specific offering (the XX-011 - I wanted an unsanforized LHT pair and this one had the most unique appeal for me). I paid the premium through Blue Owl, but part of that goes to availability - OD and Denimio both only had a one-wash option and I wanted the raw pair to start. Secondly, I picked up my Tanuki's from Blue Owl and they've been really responsive on the customer service side. Really helpful. To me, that goes a long way as to where I choose to spend my money. With the premium increase coming, I actually saved $15 and got just what I wanted.
And that completes my denim bucket list.
For now.
Time to focus on bikes.

I've wanted to try PBJ jeans for awhile but the increase is making it highly unlikely now. If i'm going to pay a premium for jeans or shirts I'd rather buy IH because their fit charts seem more reliable. I like both of my PBJ type 2's so i'm grateful i snagged them for decent prices.
BOW definitely has great customer service. I only ordered from BiG once but i've made several purchases with BOW. Jay is very attentive to customers which makes buying easier, plus their fit charts are helpful.

Wonder if this will reflect Rakuten sellers like the whole Iron Heart deal did, or only Okayama. I've only come across 2 shops that carry PBJ on Rakuten, Hinoya and Craftcafe. Hinoya has some staples... 003, 005, 011, and the 3-4 013 offerings. Craftcafe has the 007, 009, and some worker type designs. Not quite the presence IH has. I think it would be relatively easy for them to reign these 2 in, if necessary. The shop that really interests me is Denimio. They currently carry a number of items, and they also run a proxy service for non-stock items. The items listed as "proxy" on site are purchased from other Japanese stores, and billed for cost +10%. It will be interesting to see how PBJ handles them.

I was under the impression that PBJ had ceased doing business with Denimio. Their lack of inventory would suggest this might be true

I was under the impression that PBJ had ceased doing business with Denimio. Their lack of inventory would suggest this might be true I have not read anything to confirm or deny this. I'd say, I'm sure they've had discussions similar to those OD had with PBJ. Denimio may not have been as receptive to the idea. Since the last time I visited the site, there do seem to be more proxy items, including the recently dropped XX-019 and vtg denims. That would certainly suggest a parting of ways. What most interests me is the proxy service. Does the international pricing include the Japanese market ? If not, Denimio can still provide products at a decent discount.

Well this isn't good news. I've been on the search for a pair of indigo x indigo and have been holding off on the XX-012. Should I jump on them now before the price increase or look into something else like Oni's version?
