just received my first gustin chino, the #5 Navy American. They need a hem. Is there any consensus on washing first to account for shrinkage ? Or just hem them a bit long ...
thanks

From my exploration of LD's new site (I think they've changed website designs more than they've fulfilled orders in the past 6 months) - it appears that there is limited quantities from the denims (like 20 of the indigo/indigo denim). So my question - how long do we wait when the RTW 20 quantity reaches 0? Since they're making to stock, versus making to order, they can, comparatively, crank that shit out. No messing with changeovers or figuring it what special customizations are involved. Just sew or button or cut and repeat. It would make sense that any matches between RTW stuff and open orders would be handled first. It's a deviation from their original market strategy, but it's honestly what they needed to do. Limit, or price, customization appropriately and differentiate off the shelf by providing a better value product. This means they should charge much more for custom pieces than what they charged us.. this'll stem demand and make the custom work "worth it" for LD. ot sure im following this but i may be just tired. Stock is stock. Not made to order. Is LD doing stock? Also how did you find out that there are RTW 20 items...

had to use my credit for the linen drop today.....hope it makes it to customers before the end of summer....i cant see if happening before mid july at the earliest but thats just speculation.....otoh for a lightweight summer the italy pink selvedge in the stock store is also tempting...

So does the recent emails from Lawless re RTW mean the factory is open? That there is stock? That they are ready to produce? With this company, i would take a risk on a rtw jean if it was in stock but not to provide another loan aka order while they get up to speed....

New post as I realized my old one had the wrong size. Ordered these last week but a bit too small. Brand new with tags. 34" x 32.5 factory hemmed Khaki color. Great pants, im keeping the 36" I also bought. $40 bucks shipped in the US. These are over $50 new plus shipping. Selling here because of the restock fee. Here's some stock photos and other info. Nice option for a Made in the USA product See www.platformplatform.com/product/gung-ho-camp-trouser/after-the-denim.blogspot.com/2012/06/gung-ho.html and here's a an article on these Great MADE IN USA pants www.mensjournal.com/style/shirts-pants/a-trouser-that-can-take-a-beating-2013Earl's Apparel Gung Ho Camp Trousers A year or so ago, select items manufactured by a mysterious clothing label named Earl's Apparel began to infiltrate the shelves of trend-setting shops with an American-made focus, including Hickoree's in Brooklyn and Independence in Chicago. The clothes were durable takes on wardrobe staples – garments perfectly designed to take a beating.
Turns out that the company, operating out of the small town of Crockett, Texas, has been making durable, well-priced workwear for a few decades under the Stan Ray and Gung Ho labels. Stan Ray makes workwear for stylish painters and plumbers, while Gung Ho is known for its expedition gear, which looks jungle-ready. This makes Earl's, as the umbrella organization, a sort of strange, surprisingly high-quality off-brand version of Carhartt.
Names aside, the clothes are great, especially the Gung Ho Camp Trouser, which is constructed from 12-ounce cotton duck with deep fatigue-style front pockets and two button-down back pockets. The cut is more relaxed than the slim-fitting, dressier chino options out there, so these are great for non-office work and outdoor play. Play mostly. At no-frills retail sites like America's Virtual General Store, you can pick up a pair in olive drab, khaki, or classic duck brown for $39. This isn't fancy stuff, and these pants don't call attention to themselves, but they can take a beating, get up, and take another one; they're as rugged and mysterious as that guy Earl who makes them.[/quote]

Id really like to hear from someone who has the James X014 Straight. The constuction and denim look great, and the rise looks very good. But the pockets look huge and cant get any idea of the fit from the pics on the site....

Soaking sanforized denim is not required and is more of a personal preference. I always do a warm soak of all the denim before wearing. It gets rid of the starch and softens up the denim. I find it breathes more and I prefer the non starchy feel. +1- i just soaked my first pair of gustins.....they released more dye then anyother pair ive soaked...could be that fabric lot but be careful.... There's some anecodtal discussion that soaking sanfordized is good for the denim as it opens up the fibers. I cant confirm this but its a feel thing. If you like they way new sanfordized feels wear em.

Had to request amex to charge back the rest of my order that i had held back for @#$@#$5 and giggles. This smells bad and i dont want to be left holding the bag.....even on a $65 item....i would have stuck it out if someone from lawless just went on the forum and said x y and z....AND WE ARE STOPPING FUTURE ORDERS to catch up...which would be the ethical thing to do....alas not....so bye bye...one more thread i dont have to read any more is the brightside...
good luck to those waiting

If you want your money back now, how about now? Why give them the courtesy of waiting when they are jerking you around? tried it. Beyond six months and outside a hundred mile radius and it's all on LD, which makes the lack of an email response rather disconcerting. Thats odd because i asked this specific question to the lawless poster on SF. He said he wasnt aware of these types of time limits for charge backs.....

is there any general consensus on sizing up on gustin chinos? same waist up one fit, or size up. depends on how you buy your jeans. If you need stretch, don't count on that out of the chinos, and size appropriately. At this point, the next chinos I buy will be the slim fit, two waist-sizes up from the jeans size I buy. General consensus seems to be size up one, Gustin says buy your same size. Thanks for the reply. do you mean up one from your regular size or up one from what ever is your size on the gustin chart?
