I talked to the guys at Blue Owl Workshop about this. They said if the denim fits like a glove or tightish, wear them for a couple weeks before cold soaking them to loosen them up a bit. That way they fit after the small amount of shrink a cold soak will get you. Removing the starch will help the jeans last longer since bending starchy fiber breaks it down. I'm doing this with my RT x BOW expeditions and my DTBs right now. The DTBs in particular are super starchy.

i'd love to know how those sold out so fast. they haven't been available for very long. Maybe they only produced them in small batches, or all of their stockists snatched them up. So is the consensus to stick with your regular size for shirts Or go down a size? Their fit chart for size large seems a little wonky for the sleeves and hem, unless they're accounting for shrinkage Go with your normal size, for tops at least. I have no experience with their denim.

Interesting discussions going on. I'll throw in my 2 cents for what it's worth. I think Gustin's cheapest offerings are some of the best. My first pair of selvedge EVER were Heavy Americans. I think they were great. They get cool texture and fade well and are medium-heavy. Any denim over 16 oz at less than $100 is a good choice. That being said, I soon sold the HA and bought the Zimbabwe 15 oz and they are amazeballs. I love the green/grey caste and they are so damn soft. I might argue that they are G's best value. Their other great value IMO is most of their brown denim and especially the downtown brown. Honestly, who needs more than 1-2 indigo denim and 1 brown? I guess if I were into it I might also throw in a black but I'm not that rock and roll or street. Personally, I've committed to owning and wearing 3 pairs and I won't buy any more until 1 wears out. My 3rd pair is the RT x BOW expedition, which satisfies my need for something 1 pair of nicer unique denim.

If you are looking for a button up option the hill-side is dropping this soon. If you can't tell I love neppy denim.

So when you say a denim shirt that is not a work shirt are you talking western, Oxford, or something else? I think Rogue Territory's denim western is pretty cool. still kicking myself for passing it up. They pop up on eBay a grailed semi-often and usually in like new condition. I have considered getting one several times but I'm not really a western shirt kinda guy.

Taylor Stitch Indigo Pyramid shirt and Espresso Wool Telegraph trousers. Really digging both of these. If I ever decide I need more wool pants I'll definitely get them TS.

Not a fan of either flannel. Both feel too much like a costume. And see that's how I feel about the straight up denim western shirts. I don't mind the western plackets on the patterned or over dyed shirts (or even some tonal stitched shirts), but these western denims that the Japanese brands make are too much like a costume for me. Especially the ones with the sawtooth pockets. I feel like you need a matching bandana to tie around your neck and a cowboy hat...like Woody from Toy Story.
I'm starting to think a lot of our individual opinions regarding some of these shirts are influenced by the regions we grew up in. I have never seen a lumberjack in my life, haven't seen a lot of buffalo check patterns in my area (although I have noticed more pop up a bit recently) and I've never seen a hunter wear anything other than orange or camo.
I treated a lumberjack in a rehab facility yesterday. Contrary to popular belief, they don't wear red/black plaid flannels. More of a black Metallica t shirt kinda guy.

The ISC chinos almost make me want to get the work shirt. do it. do it. do it. I said almost! I really dislike the rounded pockets. I would buy a lot more of their stuff if they ditched the jumper and work shirt style and switched those to the utility WS and traveller. Maybe that's just my taste though.

I grabbed the pyramid from the workshop and love it. A few months later and everyone is using this fabric but at about twice what TS charges. 3sixteen has the aforementioned 3/4 sleeve, N&F is using it and I'm pretty sure I saw at least one more. The floral looks a tad busy and I have something similar from Iron and Resin so I passed.

I love the filson explorer Me too. I actually went to Filson planning to get the mile marker coat but ended up with the explorer jacket. It's like Barbour but made in Murca.

gaseousclay not at all. But being married we both reserve the right to say when when we don't like something and we try to dress attractively for each other. She actually told me to keep it if I really like it but that she's just not a fan. I'm going to think about it and contact Andrew to see if they have any returns of the fleck denim workers jacket. If they do I'll probably sell this at a small discount and buy that one since it is what I wanted in the first place.

That dobby looks a lot better in your photos than the ones I saw at Nordstrom Rack. It kind of looked sickly green. And yeah, the owners are rad. I struck up an email convo with Andrew and he is a super nice dude.

It is a slim fit, which I like. I actually just returned the new denim shirt from Taylor Stitch because I like this one better even though it lacks some of the details like triple needle chain stitch run off. Pit to pit it is exactly 22 inches size L
