DigDug The waist stretched quite a bit. They are tagged size 30 and if I remember right they were about 30 in the waist. They definitely were really tight in the waist when I first got them. I put them on my waist stretcher for bit before I wore them. Just measured them now and the waist is 33 inches. I have worn them in the water several times but always wore them until they were dry. Hope this helps!!

I have a pair of the denim/denim board shorts that I have been wearing on the weekends for a couple months. I have liked them just fine but finally wore them hiking and swimming in and around the Yuba River in Northern Ca. They were completely transformed after just one week of real river action. I wore the shorts everyday and really abused them. I slid down rock waterslides, scooted along cliff edges and scraped along the river bottom in rapids. When I would slide down a rock into the water, there would be an indigo trail on the rock where I slid! The shorts absolutely came alive... They are now soft and a real pleasure to touch and wear. They wore in and faded beautifully. I am really digging them!!

I picked up one of the Selvedge Hemp tailored jackets at the last Unionmade sale: www.hickorees.com/brand/the-hill-side/product/jk1-006-selvedge-hemp-denim-tailored-jacketUnionmade had them in every size and after trying on a couple sizes I went a size smaller than my norm with a 36. The fit is very slim and a little long so feels dressy. Like all things denim, the jacket will be more interesting in a year once it has been broken in, distressed and maybe even washed once. I plan on posting some pics once things start to get good.

I finally received my first partial shipment yesterday from a Nov 4th order. Order # 561 from Nov 4th. I received two of the four items in the order. They were both jeans from the 10.5oz Kaihara light gray denim. One was supposed to be a Christmas gift. Back then the site listed delivery in 6-8 weeks and I was hoping to get lucky and get them in time for Christmas. Oh to be so naive... They will now be his birthday gift in July. LOL!! The pair for myself had a custom sizing request (smaller thigh) and this came in spot on. The fit on these are perfect. I also just received a pair of RTW in the same size (32) and fit (straight slim) without any custom and the fit is off. This small change makes a big difference to me. There were a couple issues with both of them but nothing I am going to complain about as it works to my own tastes. One pair arrived with the generic LD&Co patch when the Katana patch was ordered but after seeing the katana patch in this thread this is ok. The other pair of jeans arrived with a double stitched inseam instead of a triple stitched seam. Again, this works for me as the triple stitch seam is not a detail I like and with black contrast thread on these light gray jeans it would have been very noticeable. It's funny, this detail has been on my mind since I ordered the jeans... wondering if I would like it or not. I am happy with this mistake. The denim is very light in color. My fiance likes them and was impressed I had bought some "spring clothes". I didn't want to remind here I bought these last November as she is still waiting for jeans from a Nov 5 order. I ordered the pink houndstooth lining on all my orders thinking a little color pop would be cool. These liners are bright pink!! They actually reflect off the light gray denim and cast pink glow above the pockets! I asked for it... The selvedge id on this material is super odd. It is a wide sparkling metallic strip. The right side pocket now has a sparkling metallic strip reflecting the ambient glow of the pink pocket liner. Again... I asked for it. The fit with the custom alteration is so perfect I am not phased by the glowing pink disco ball pocket. Cheers to spring!!

I ordered a pair of the RTW jeans on May 12th and they arrived on May 18th. Just saw them last night as I have been out of town. I couldn't resist the green denim after seeing some pics of it. The denim is awesome. The construction looks great, no details missed or botched to my eye. The fit is ok. I ordered the jeans on the day they were offering free shipping, so with the 50% KS discount they were $34.50 shipped. Couldn't resist because of this... It costs $30 (after tax) to have jeans chain-stitched around here. The jeans are a little wrinkled because I threw them in the hamper to be washed and dried, hoping the shrink will help the fit. Looking at RTW vs semi-custom: I also received my first partial shipment yesterday from a Nov 4 order that had some custom sizing changes and the fit is perfect for me.

I received both the Indigo T-Shirt 2-pk and the Heavy Indigo Stripe today. I ordered size small in both as this is the size I order for button downs and chore coats. I have been concerned about the fit of the T's though as I like my button downs snug but don't like an overly tight Tee. I was thrilled when I tried on the indigo T-Shirts! The fit is perfect for me. I like the thin/thick-ness of the fabric. Color is great. But after reading the post from curieux88 I measured my T's just to see and they fall somewhere in-between small and medium. Great for me on this batch of T's but I am not sure what to order next time... I guess I will see how these handle the wash. The Heavy Indigo T-Shirt was a different story though. The chest came in at about 3 inches over spec and has weird crooked side seam lines. I sent Ren/Gustin an email about this hoping for an exchange as I love the thickness of this shirt but we will see... Recap: - Love the imperfections of my Indigo T-Shirt sizings. Soon to be favorite T's. - Love the look/feel of the Heavy Stripe Indigo but the imperfections are not acceptable and I am hoping they have an extra size small laying around the office they can send me!

Yes. But they don't do half sizes. I am usually an 8.5 (except for some of the brands that we know run small) and went with an 8 for these. The fit is definitely snug but I know they will stretch and give a little. I do like my leather boots to start off snug.

Yeah, the white gusset is odd. Especially as their are some Pins that list that fabric as Japanese cotton/linen selvedge. You would think some selvedge edge detail would be the obvious choice for the gusset. Maybe the Pins are wrong.
What do you think of the dobby shirt? I was going to order one. The shirt looks like it has a selvedge gusset?
Thanks!

Tawny Goods: Generational Bootmakers I haven't seen Tawny Goods mentioned yet on this board but I backed a pair of boots during their Kickstarter project back in January. Their story is that they work with generational leather and shoe-making craftsman from Leon, Mexico to produce handmade shoes and boots. I received my black toe cap boots today and could not be any happier. They are immediately comfortable and feel like the kind of boots that will really form to your feet quickly. I expect them to become go-to favorites. I like beat up boots and look forward to beating them up a bit. They are cap toes but look and feel much dressier in person than I expected, which is great for me. They feel dressier than Wolverine, Frye or Red Wing boots of similar style that I tried on before I backed these. They are dressy to the point where both my fiance and I like them enough to save them to be my dress shoes for our wedding next month. Tawny is currently offering a 25% off pre-order special on their website which puts their boots at $180. Not exactly cheap and is getting into the range of more established brands (especially when on sale). For me though, having items of clothing that are a little unique is worth the risk. Speaking of quality... I still need to wear and break them in a bit to really be able to evaluate quality but based on looks and walking around the house I am happy. Since I will not be wearing them until June here are some pics for now!

Wanted to share my recent (and great) experience with the LD repair service offerings.
I had some ebay score (cheap) selvedge jeans gathering dust in my closet due to the fits all being a little off so took advantage of the 50% off sale that was going on at the end of 2014 and purchased a slew of denim alterations/repair services. I am very glad I did!
My order was order #2089 purchased on Dec 31st. I sent in 7 pairs of jeans (2 of them were non-selvedge fiancé jeans) around Jan 7th and got them back on Feb 21st. I chatted with Roman once at the beginning of February to make sure they got them and he told me that alterations are done on Saturdays and not in the same queue as the new product wait.
As others have stated, the craftsmanship on all the work done is top-notch. The turn around time for alterations on 7 pairs of jeans was completely acceptable to me. I usually pay $30 and have waited two weeks just to have jeans chain-stitched at the denim shop around the corner.
The details:
Tapering- I had 4 pairs of jeans tapered including modifications to the thigh, knee and cuff. They all came out spot on except one which is a little tight. Luckily these are black jeans that I can now wear to pull off the Metallica look mentioned in another thread! All tapers were done to the inseam with triple stitching. I now have a pair of Gustin jeans with a triple stitched inseam!
Alterations- I have a pair of gray Hilfiger jeans that have always been a love / hate piece of clothing for me. I love the denim but wasn’t in love with the cut and hated the Hilfiger branding on the coin pocket and buttons. LD tapered these exactly to spec, added a new coin pocket in gray denim, changed all the Hilfiger buttons to LD buttons and even replaced the rivets with hand-hammered LD rivets. This is now one of my favorite pieces of clothing!
Chain stitching- They chain stitched 2 pairs exactly to the requested length. The chain stitch looks great and is cleaner than the $30 chain stitch I usually pay for. And with the sale, this was only 5 bucks per jean.
Darning- they put back together the backside of my skate jeans. It’s not pretty as the blowout was across the entire butt but the work is solid and my favorite skate jeans are back!
I’m super happy. With the 50% off sale, the bang-for-buck feeling I have is off-the-chart. I am definitely looking at ebay selvedge denim differently after this.

Hi Sal,
Can you confirm the taper and garment alterations services are available for non-Lawless denim? I called the Lawless shop about this yesterday and the person on the phone wasn't sure.
Thanks as always!

Hi All,
Just a quick hello and thanks!
I have really enjoyed all the great opinion and insight shared on this forum and look forward to new brands and products being discovered and discussed.
About me: I live in L.A. and work in automotive advertising but grew up in the Sierra Nevada foothills. I am a big fan of all things selvedge, small batch, made in U.S.A etc.
Thanks again!
