I was a little disappointed upon opening it as it was fairly pricy and they bragged up the construction...it seriously looks like a kid or a beginner sewed on many of the buttons. They seemed crisp as I took it out of the package but after unbuttoning a few times, they became seriously loose. I was at my little cousin's football game the night I got it and I hustled out after the 3rd quarter so I didn't risk losing anymore buttons, lol. I told my seamstress about it (mom), and she said "this is a good opportunity for you to learn how to sew your own buttons." LOL The construction is fantastic, the buttons may as well be glued on with elmers.

Do all of the G work shirts have this severe of a scoop? All the recent talk has me interested, but I don't need a work shirt version of a d*ck curtain.

matt that's actually pretty common with a lot of workshirts and the answer to your question is yes. I've said this quite a few times before but people always talk about the drastic scoops and dick curtains on the G shirts but IMO my IH shirts have an almost as drastic scoop with the difference being they sew in the fabric at the scoop (gussets?) which draws the eye away from the scoop a bit I think.

I think G could've easily added an inch to the "gusset" could have been a little longer to lessen the appearance of the curtain.
Maybe this is all leading up to G releasing a work hat that features a Roman helmet to pair with their drastic scoops?

One of my top 3 favorite shirts. Big fan of G workshirts. Sure there are shortcomings as evidenced by the lazy button choice IMHO, button fastening, etc., however, tough to beat for the money. Zimbabwe; worn lots for 2 years with one wash. I was surprised with the shrink, minimal yet noticeable. Obviously very stubborn fade but it looks great as is I think.

worn lots for 2 years with one wash. Don't hate. Genetically superior. Edit: work(i.e., office) shirt.

Postal herringbone. Again one of my faves. They only made so many and they sewed up very large. So heavy more like a shacket. This lg was such with subsequent hot wash and nice shrink also with a serendipitous effect on the pattern offering great contrast in the "popping" of the vertical grain.

I found some older cat's eye MoP buttons for my American Herringbone. They're a tad larger than the originals. Yea or Nay ? ......

Well, in a unanimous decision, the yeas have it. I was fairly certain of the color. The size, not as such. However, I do like the extra surface area, for a more secure connection. I'm just waiting on some brown horn buttons I ordered for my Salt & Pepper/Kakashibu workshirt. Thanks, bentin , for the recommendation. As I searched for buttons, I realized the horns were going to be the best option. I'll post them, when they arrive.

Love/have that shirt too. It's funny, the only compliments from women present only when I where G shirts...mostly workshirts. Like the white. I was torn/overloaded when I went online button shopping for my G workshirts. I quit saying to myself I'll just replace when they fall off and they have miraculously stayed on. Where did you you pick those up?

Revived from the dead.
I am backing the Cone 101 workshirt. I want a cone denim shirt before it’s all dried up and this seems to be the best bet.
How much do these shrink? I was thinking about a XL classic but if it shrinks a epic ton like Iron Heart I will go XXL Classic.
Any experience?

I think it depends on how much you want it to shrink. Cold rinse and hang dry, not much, if at all. I needed about a full size of shrink in my Wabi Sabi and got it with an hour long hot machine wash and dry in a medium heat dryer. I have since only done cold washes and hang dry and it's stayed the same size.

Resurrecting...
Just got my first batch of work shirts (heavy blackxblack and cone).
I didnt realize how long these are. The 30.4 length on my classic medium is just about at the bottom, if not past the bottom of the sipper on my slim 33 waist American heavys. Oh, and I'm only 5ft 8in tall.
Anyone else have this issue? How are you managing? Just deal with it? Keep it unbuttoned?
Anyone know where I can maybe send these in to have shortened like an inch or so?
Thank you

It'll most likely shrink an inch or so in the length but not so much in width. At least that's been my experience.

I have two more on order, so perhaps I'll do a hot soak and wash on one of those. I'm always afraid of the shrinking game because I never know what will be affected, so I just cold wash and hang.

I had that done. Came out awful! 1st the tailor didn't follow the Hem line and simply cut strait across. Now they're square and a bit odd looking. Then I washed them and they shrunk, so they're even shorter. I never wear them now and can't sell them. I'd suggest cold wash and hang dry first. See how that comes out. Then maybe wash and no heat dryer. If you do decide on bringing it to the tailor. Be specific on what you want and only have one done to see how it comes out.

Thanks. I cold washed and soaked, hung dry. Still too long. Brought them in already and will see how they turn out. I should have only brought one in, but that's on me. I got excited when they said no problem.
If they are trash, then lesson learned. I'll wear them as true work shirts in the yard and garage. And I'll just try to shrink my next two.
If it works, game changer....
