I'll spend extra money for USA made goods. I'll spend extra money for iron heart because I love the company.
I won't spend the extra money on the shoes. If they were USA made i would grab the sienna highs and the white lows. Probably.
If I'm going to buy foreign made sneakers I'll buy them but pay around $50

The original draw of Gustin was value, unique materials and made in the USA. The sneakers have lost 2 out of the 3 main draws to the company. If Gustin had attempted to make their sneakers in the US, many people would've happy to risk some money to back them since it would have supported a return of a lost industry in the US. By going to outsourcing to Italy route, there's nothing unique about those sneakers. Even the material and design is pretty common in the high end sneaker market. Yes, it is cheaper(not sure about the value part yet) but that's all they have going for them. For some, that's enough. For me, I'd prefer to back Rancourt who's trying to make high sneakers in the US or just buy them off the shelf. Pretty sure this accurately reflects the attitude of a large portion of the members of this forum. Oh, I thought he was just paraphrasing what he read in the thread.

Gf really liked the look of the Gustan Smiths, and asked me if I wanted a pair. If they come back, I might have her cop.

Did all the shoes seriously "fully fund" today? Seems oddly convenient that they all fully-funded today.

They look more postal than janitorial IMO... If going postal, might as well get the real thing these are 'merican made, cheaper, ready to ship, and most likely much better quality. My mom actually wears the ladies version and the quality is top notch.

So talk me out of gettting a pair here. Im thinking the dublins will look a little too childish to wear to work for a grown man, so this leaves me the siennas or the oxbloods. Im feeling the hightops are more of a shoe but why give myself the hassle of having to tie and untie when its a sneaker, so the lows will be able to slip on readytied if tuned and Im not walking highcuffed so its not like someone is gonna know they are "more shoe".
So my reasons is mainly a blend of the color of sienna or ox/the stitched sole/made in Italy contrary to everyone i like it since they are known for making good shoes just like japaneese are known for good denim.
Can i get atleast color and stitched sole for the same or a better price anywhere Else? Show me!

Let's just use Gustin's own copy from the boot announcement (though it won't matter as much to you not being in the USA): We’re extremely proud that we’re able to make our boots in the USA. Of all the garment trade, footwear manufacturers have been hit among the hardest. Given how many man hours are required to make a pair of shoes, most companies go to countries with extremely cheap labor.Either way, I certainly don't recommend going with the horween sneaker offerings, and would advise you to scratch that itch with the boots you already jumped in on. Moving beyond that, I like the sienna. If you're attached to the stitched sole but not Gustin, look for Common Projects on sale, keep an eye on Epaulet sales, or check out Greats.

Gustin all white sneaker 1st run got an update 9/1 that cutting is scheduled to start this week. Not sure if that is good or bad news in terms of timing.

I'm getting nervous about if my shoes will fit. I generally wear a 9.5-10, and I sized down to 9 due to their suggestion.

I guess it took them a while to literally ship all that leather to Italy. The first runs of sneakers went into cutting in July, I don't remember when the all white dropped. However, the all white didn't require anything to be shipped to Italy since they're sourced there.

Like a lot have said here already, I don't see the Gustin shoes being as appealing as simply buying from a well-known brand. Maybe it's just me, but I'm super impatient, and waiting this long for a pair of shoes would drive me nuts, regardless of the price point.

Well, if you're super impatient, I don't know why you would even consider G, or any other crowd sourced company, for not just footwear, but anything at all, as there's a 2 month minimum wait for anything they make. For others, the $100~$200 savings is worth the four or so month wait for footwear.

I consider it a bargain if I'm only waiting a month or two for jeans and am paying roughly half of what I would for a traditionally manufactured pair of jeans, but for boots, I just would have a hard time paying $200+ for a pair of boots and waiting 6-ish months when there are just as nice of quality boots out there for relatively the same price. But maybe that's just me.

But maybe that's just me. At $200 it's all about whether you care that they're made in the USA or not. If you're fine with Mexico, China, or India, then yes, the market is flooded with boots in that price bracket. With some luck, you can get red wings on sale at that price, but if you're not into that and don't want Chippewa styling but do want USA made, you'll find the options become severely limited.

bozer Nope. I was a fast backer for first run or all white sneakers in first run and the natural boots. Sneakers they said 10 days to start getting shipping info. Boots looking like a month.
