There's going to be some well vested Outlaws on the roads (or at least some Orthodontics, Day Traders, Accountants.....)
If they put this detail into a chore coat and kept the cost to around $300 I'd be in (in time). But don't see that happening.

A body's gotta keep dat iPhone6 Plus somewhere. Not sure I'm a fan of that patch orientation, though. But I might just be too used to the traditional patch.

Yes we are an opinionated bunch but we do like to spend money on denim and the such. My opinion can change next month so we don't take ourselves too seriously. We do like when representatives stop by. It seems to help the money just flow out of our wallets. If any of our members have any questions would you be able to help and answer them? Feel free to tell us about your company and it's goods.

I thought I might mention that we recently launched The "Kaiju" Freeway Flyer Jean in a 23 oz. Japanese Butikku selvedge in black on black and dark indigo. Took us over three years to get this fabric so we are pretty excited about it. This denim comes from a very small family-owned mill on the outskirts of Okayama - revered for their specialty selvedge denim that outstrips the acumen and patience of the best denim mills in Japan. Find out more here: clutchmonkey.com/selvedge/

clutchmonkey, this really looks like a great fabric and I love the fact that you sourced it from a small mill. Can you tell us anymore about the fabric? Do you know if the fabric is reactive dyed (virtually no fading) or will the fabric fade to a grey? Also, is this a soft fabric or is it starchy and crispy ?

Do you know if the fabric is reactive dyed (virtually no fading) or will the fabric fade to a grey? Also, is this a soft fabric or is it starchy and crispy ? So the yarns are specially spun for this super heavy weight selvedge fabric using RING SPUN with original slub patterns in the warp yarns. For the indigo, natural indigo was used with no sulphur. The black on black was dyed using a sulphur dye. In both cases, the fabric is tightly woven and has a starchy feel. It really is the best of the best in our opinion. We found out today that the mill is willing to work with us again on this fabric but the next production run will finish in December of 2016 (18 months from now)- so good and bad news there. They actually do not enjoy producing it because if you leave the loom for even a few seconds you have 2nd quality fabric on your hands so you have to really force these old Toyoda's to create something they are not wanting to do - they kick & scream the whole way through. Thanks for the question -Marc

fellas, if you look at the swatch of the Indigo 23 oz fabric it looks very similar to 26 oz fabric that Gustin dropped last year, does it not? Those electric blue dots speckled throughout the fabric are awesome. I'm saying the similarity is a good thing btw clutchmonkey

so clutchmonkey, as many of us here who are heavy denim fans know, the task of sewing up fabrics this heavy can be a challenge. Most brands don't even attempt it and some that have attempted it have not had great success with it in the past. I'm curious to know how experienced your sewers are with denim this heavy? I am by no means an expert on this but I would imagine that working with a denim this heavy is a completely different animal than your typical 14oz range denim. I personally love heavy denim and in my honest opinion there is only one brand that really has their shit together when it comes to sewing up the heavy stuff What are your thoughts on this? I would love to give your brand a try as I really dig the blue collar/street vibe that I'm getting from what I've researched of Cluth Monkey so far and as I said before, I love heavy denim. I mean no disrespect by this question but heavy denim is a different ball game IMO and it takes a bit more attention to detail to get it right I think, plus it's not exactly cheap to the customer so it's important to have some confidence in a brands quality when it comes to the heavy shit.

No doubt! and no disrespect taken Great question man. It is a completely different animal. We searched, challenged, and tested several small manufacturers. Most ran but three of them were up for the challenge but none of them succeeded unfortunately. Then I reached out to a friend/colleague in the industry and he knew a small operation that claimed they could do it. This place was known for doing not only denim but bags and such with heavy weight canvas's and heavy-weight sail cloths etc. We gave them a shot with this 23 oz fabric and it came back spot on. I asked my contact there what the struggle was like during the sample sewing and he just shrugged his shoulders and said "no problem, just had to adjust the machines". So we are very confident using our source for this project. Turns out, one of the consultants we use on an ongoing basis has worked with them for years and the relationship is very strong. They are known for achieving on-time results & producing premium quality so we are very excited about this relationship. Hope that helps -Marc

Very nice clutchmonkey, and yes that definitely does help. Thanks for sharing that info, it definitely makes me more confident in forking over some dough for some heavy denim from you guys. so what's in the pipeline for Clutch Monkey? Are you guys planning on expanding your product line at all in the near future? Maybe work shirts, heavyweight flannels (with snaps preferrably), thermals, crewneck sweatshirts, hoodies, T shirts, etc. .. (hint, hint

We are still very much in start-up mode so its all hands on deck right now as we make our way through our biggest year of growth - a balancing act I do really appreciate and take your hints seriously however - hadn't thought of thermals or crew-neck sweatshirts to be honest We hope to bring on board a product development person late this year/early 2016. -Marc

Unfortunately, thats the best the mill can do at this point. 18 months would be a really long no spend challenge
