After researching the Oni brand a bit more I was able to track down a few Rakuten sources, but none currently stock the 527ZR. There is another site, kidana.com, which stocks a lot of Oni but only ships within Japan. Anyone know how to facilitate the delivery from Japan to the states? www.kidana.com/oni%20denim/527zr.htm

Guys - one other possibility if you're shopping Japan and striking out on Rakuten, try Denimio.com. They recently announced that they will act as a proxy/buyer for stuff that they don't stock. I've purchased denim from their stock but never used their proxy service. I can tell you they are a first class outfit with great prices though. The owner is Mahoto, drop them a line, maybe he can find you a pair of 527ZR's. I was going to search out a pair of the olive version but I went on a self imposed no buy for 90 days instead. I've got a few weeks on my indigo 527zr's and I love them. Gotta love unsanforized heavy denim. Baby fades in two weeks

Stevekas, How do you find the taper on the 527zr? I have the ability to go with a straight fit or the taper, but it looks like the lower leg on the 527zr is significantly skinnier.

Those look great @stevekas. They look slightly nut crusher, but the fabric is amazing and I'm sure they have a bit of stretch to go.
I want a pair of these bad...don't see them as a reality in the forseeable future though. Too caught up in all of the other indigo I've got. Maybe towards the end of summer.

That fabric looks amazing. I'd really like some real premium Japanese jeans and I'd been looking at Samurai and then Iron Heart, but that Oni fabric looks like nothing else.
Saying that, if any more jeans arrive in the post my girlfriend will kill me. I guess a lot of guys could say that, and you're all still here..

@david, yeah they are borderline nutcrushers. I do like my fit on the tighter side but I'm looking for a bit more stretch on these. They've already given a bit since the initial soak so I think in another 3-4 weeks the fit will be where I want it. jackgordon, I can't say enough about this fabric. It's really, really cool stuff. You can't go wrong with any of the brands you mentioned though.

Thanks elfsedge. I ended up getting a pair of 288 through Rodeo Bros' Rakuten store. The 288 fabric is similar (possibly same ??) to the 527, at 20 oz and with a lot of nep. Just received them last night and they are beautiful! I highly recommend Rodeo Bros for their customer service and shipping. Don't have time this week but I'll post some pre- and post-soak photos soon.

My 527ZRs get here tomorrow! Gotta love 3 day shipping from Japan. Just a FYI- it looks like rodeobros and hinoya have restocked a ton of Oni models. If these don't fit, I'll be ordering some 517s!

I am calling out to the forum for help on the sizing of these jeans: global.rakuten.com/en/store/auc-rodeo/item/oni-288-o/The site says one-wash, so I would think the measurements they provide are after the wash. Does anyone know for sure? At $181, it's a damn good price for Oni 20 oz.

I don't normally get excited about Indigo jeans but damn..... this looks awesome. love the texture and the weft... Very nice. Btw, mind to share how much you pay for it including shipping? Edit: Never mind, I saw your post in Reddit and the cost is $240. Not bad at all.

For reference, here are the raw (non-washed) measurements from my Oni 288: Waist: 38/38.5 (unstretched/stretched, laying flat) Thigh: 27.5 (2" down) Knee: 21 (15" down) Cuff: 18.75 The measurements were pretty close to the Rodeo Bros guide; my waist is slightly larger but I'm not sure how they measure. From what I've read you can expect 6-8% shrinkage , which should make them fit nicely. I'll report back with some photos after a soak.

Like others, I'm thinking about using Rakuten / Rodeo Bros to grab a pair of Oni; for non sanforized, is it best to stick to straight leg if I don't want super skinny lowers? Thanks!

I found I needed two hot soaks to get the Oni to shrink to my liking. Here are measurements post-soaks: Waist: 36.5/37 (unstretched/stretched, laying flat) Thigh: 26.5 (2" down) Knee: 20 (15" down) Cuff: 18 Here's a few photos as well.

These were 36. The measurements seem pretty close to what was shown on Rakuten, but I can't decipher what methods they use to measure everything.
