single needle french seams, will they hole up as a work shirt? Don't think it's intended as a work shirt. From their journal write up: "The result of which is a shirt that looks a bit more buttoned up, sophisticated even."

I like TS but I find my experience there is the exact opposite of my experience at Gustin. Gustin shirts don't work for me at all fitwise, too narrow shoulders and blousy bottoms with major hem scoopage (WS excepted and fingers crossed). On the other hand, Gustin slim cut jeans are about the best raws as far as fit that I've come across, the chinos I bought (also slim) worked out great too.
I've got 4 TS shirts and they all hit the fit right on the nose. On the other hand I picked up two pairs of heavy Chambray pants in their slim fit and they were massively oversized compared to the fit chart. I have a really good tailor though and I loved the fabric, nothing else like it on the market, so I bit the bullet and had the pants tailored. Now I love them, but in the future I'll be a bit reluctant to buy pants from them. No idea on the denim......

@stevekas good info on the shirts. The one TS shirt I ordered had to be returned as it was just too small. Will try the next size up and hope it's a solid fit. I tend to have a similar problem with shirts not fitting through the shoulders and pulling at the top buttons across the chest if I stand straight. If I size up enough to fit the shoulders I basically have enough material to make a sail around the waist.

I have one TS shirt (Railroad Stripe) and the fit is near perfect.
Like Steve, I am not a big fan of the Gustin cut. I also don't think the quality is that great, though a lot of the patterns look good.

Anyone have one of the TS Project Jackets?
I am considering funding the Pine version; really like the look of it after a bit of wear.

I used to wish that Gustin would just simply take a TS shirt, copy the pattern, and offer it up with all the cool fabrics they get.

I am considering funding the Pine version; really like the look of it after a bit of wear. cross posting from this thread: i have a ts project coat in standard duck. definitely cut more relaxed than Gustin's offering...almost too roomy around the waist. i like mine quite a bit, and do appreciate the combination of pouch/patch pockets and handwarmer pockets (especially on windy days), but i wouldn't pay full price for it. if you're interested, get it while you can get the funding discount. i got the duck canvas version for just slightly more and wouldn't want to have paid much more in terms of what you get. for full price i'd rather spend a bit more and go with a tellason coverall jacket.

Yes and yes. I really like a lot of the patterns Gustin digs up but the cut of their shirts (and the construction, to be honest) is not great. I have had exactly the same thought as you Dave, "Why can't Gustin walk over, buy a TS shirt, and copy that cut?"
If that happened, I would end up backing a lot of the Gustin shirt campaigns.

hey stinky, or anyone else for that matter, if you're looking for the TS Black Mechanics Shirt go here; www.domesticdomestic.com/collections/shirtsthe black one always sells out quick when TS drops it so it can be hard to get, but domesticdomestic has some in stock. They carry some cool shit from the brands we all like so check them out when you get a chance.

riddle me this...
why does TS use numeric sizing for their shirts that DOES NOT match the actual sizing of the shirts?

riddle me this... why does TS use numeric sizing for their shirts that DOES NOT match the actual sizing of the shirts? who knows, but i guess it's no different than denim makers who use numeric sizes that don't correspond to their actual sizing either (by design, not error )

riddle me this... why does TS use numeric sizing for their shirts that DOES NOT match the actual sizing of the shirts? Probably because most guys know their jacket size and will order TS shirts according to that. Of course, a size N jacket does not mean the jacket will measure N in the chest; it means your chest measures N and the jacket will be cut a few inches bigger to accommodate the shirt you'll wear underneath it and allow you to move comfortably. If your chest measurement is, say, 42" you absolutely do not want a shirt that measures 42" across the chest unless you enjoy shooting buttons across the room every time you move. Even if you like a really trim fit, you'll be looking for a shirt that's around 2 inches bigger in the chest than your actual measurement. And that sucker is going to be painted on. I reckon most of us wear shirts that are 3-5" bigger than our chest measurements.

I've been kinda bummed by Taylor Stitch since they started the workshop, seems that it's a shifted focus in their business model, but I'd bet they've seem how the Gustin boys are doing and figure they should get in on it since it's "lower risk". Also seen the same shift in Flint and Tinder. It's interesting to watch commerce develop. I'm still thinking of that Pine project jacket, just not sure if I really need it in my wardrobe. Seems like it'd be great for travel.

Seems like it'd be great for travel. I'm on the opposite end, I like it. I mean it is slower to get things in my hand, but the cost difference is okay for the 1-month. And they option in returns/exchanges, which makes it less risky. Much better than the gustin model. Haven't really followed flint and tinder, so can't speak to that.
