Got my IH-634S in just 4 days from Japan. Although 21oz, they just feel really nice, thick enough to feel substantial, but not OTT. The beige weft is nicely unusual too. Even my wife said they looked good on me, so they must have something special. I only wish I'd gone straight for this instead of wasting hundreds on other less satisfactory indigos. I'm with you. I could have skipped a lot of lucky and levis...then gap selvedge....then PRPS and jean shop....then like 7 pairs of Gustins that I never wear....right to IH and samurai. Kinda like "you get what you pay for." Some folks don't understand the concept of value.

Kinda like "you get what you pay for." Some folks don't understand the concept of value. Have you guys forgotten? It was only until recently when the yen dropped this much that the Japanese brands became a great value. If you had skipped right to IH, you'd be looking at spending $300~400 on IHUK and Self Edge. IH is obviously high quality items, but at those prices, the value goes down. Only recently did our knowledge expand to Rakuten, and only recently did the price drop to become the value it is now. If I hadn't dabbled with Lucky/Levis/Gustins, I'd probably be spending a then premium price on G Star Raw jeans. I had a pair of Emporio Armani jeans from Marshalls and I thought those were premium denims. Gustin opened my eyes to other brands like Momo/PBJ/IH, for better or for worse.

Rakuten was always cheaper than SE or IHUK.

It's been YEARS since the ¥ was stronger than the $..... And even then, even if ¥1=$1.20, it would still be cheaper to shop Rakuten vs IHUK/SE

It's been YEARS since the ¥ was stronger than the $..... And even then, even if ¥1=$1.20, it would still be cheaper to shop Rakuten vs IHUK/SE I'm not doubting Rakuten being cheaper than ihuk/se, but I'm doubting that most people here and most people in general knew about Rakuten (or Denimio or other outlets) being a cheaper alternative for IH products years ago. So if they wanted to skip the Levis and go straight to IH, there weren't many options besides IHUK/SE. And those prices don't exactly scream value to most of us. IH just being one example of course. Most of us had to build through purchases we now regret, to really understand the value of higher quality brands. From Levis/Gap to Gustin/NF to pbj/momo/ih etc, and everything in between. To say people don't understand value is being silly, because it's all relative.

True. I've known about Rakuten for about 3 years that I've been here in Japan, but that was before I knew about fancy jawnz lol. Once I found out about the IH stuff on there, I think I bought a pair just a couple days later... Then a shirt... Now, I've got 3 pants, 3 t-shirts, 3 Henley's, a vest, a jacket and 3 button ups.....
Gustin was surely my gateway drug!

Between that and the $400 belt, I find it best to avoid the Hardware page even if just to window shop.

I really like the Viberg boots in the sale section though. IHUK boot pricing is crazy, though, and surely not geared to US buyers. The full price of around $800 for their Wesco's and Vibergs must be because it includes UK VAT and customs fees for importing from the US and Canada. Even the sale price is what you can buy mildly customised Wesco's in the US for. I paid only $550 to pick up custom Wesco's in the US Last month, which by UK prices is crazy cheap considering the quality.

The accessories and shoes from IHUK are insanely priced. I would rather buy high end designer stuff for my girl if I was paying those prices.

Happy Days (not the Fonz)
I just received my confirmation on blue IH 816s. Hopefully, they'll be here by the end of the week. It's a shame IH doesn't make these in more colors. I'd love to see a dark olive, black or grey. Oh well....................

Dark brown. It's a phenomenal color. And, the top block of this cut is AMAZING. I wish they would mirror it on some jeans I actually think the 634 cut is basically a denim version of this cut....no? yes? am I wrong? anyone else? lol... Sir the 634s is based on a 66cut like the flathead 3009 for example too

I have been eyeing those for a long time but haven't copped yet. What's your thoughts on them? Did you post anything in the Skull thread here?

Did you post anything in the Skull thread here? Nah, I didn't post anything. I didn't want to come off as a spendthrift. Haha. I love 'em. I got the 5010xx 14.5 oz. Got them unwashed (they're unsanforized) and hemmed to 35" so once they are soaked they'll have a very small cuff if any. They're Pima (and California?) cotton, so they definitely have a unique feel. Supposedly fast faders. I dig the fit on them and the color is a very dark, inky blue from natural indigo. They're pretty rad. They feel a little heavier than their advertised weight, too, but they are the lightest weight I'm wearing right now. I'm alternating between them, the Old Blues, the Strike Golds and...oh yeah, I think my PBJs and Lee 501s are slightly lighter at around 14 oz. So yeah, nothing below 14 oz. these days. But these are going to look awesome in a short time, I believe.

Well, finally tried my IH 666s back on after getting them tapered. OK, so these are pretty sweet now. I am digging them a fair bit, even if they are soft and get zero creases in the honeycomb area. They feel good. Won't be a regular go to jean. But I like 'em enough.
EDIT: Looking at the fades of these jeans online, I literally have no idea how people are getting the fades they are getting on these jeans. There's no way mine are gonna honeycomb like that. They are far too soft to get sufficient creasing for dramatic honeycombs like that. Makes no sense to me to look at those fades and have my pair on...they just don't seem like the same fabric. Are they starching their jeans, or....?
EDIT 2: Plus, they seem to stretch out and get "floppy" pretty quickly and easily.
