Iron Heart bought from anywhere besides Japan direct is a rip off. It's a designer label plus taxes, importing and tariffs. Those fees rack up plus you have to keep IHUK and self edge in business.
Iron heart bought off Rakuten is a sick deal.

Iron heart bought off Rakuten is a sick deal. Yup. And remember that IH bought from Rakuten is still at full retail price with the typical clothing mark up percentages. If IH were a company with larger production and distribution, you'd see significant seasonal mark downs, like every other large denim company. As I say, go to the Barney's sale twice a year. Various models of RRL, N&F, Nudie, Big John, etc all at half price or less. Now imagine IH had more production capacity and allowed Western distribution to places like Barney's or other higher end retailers. You would see IH on sale at about half of the Rakuten retail price too. I suppose my point is - don't be too impressed with Rakuten prices. You are still paying the full retail price for clothing. (I never do that for any other brand.)

I read an interview with Giles of IHUK where he explained Haraki did not want the brand to grow too much as he feared quality would go out the window. At least that's my memory of what I read. I admit to being an Iron Heart fanboy but I just cannot seem to get my head around the IHUK prices. So many times I've added something to my cart but haven't been able to pull the trigger.

seth I totally agree to never pay msrp for clothing but ihuk could buy at these prices and still make money. I'm all for someone selling for what the market will bear but 40% + markup over msrp is excessive. Does ihuk even have a retail location?

seth - of course we are paying full retail but lookin at a realistic view of it rakuten is the cheapest we will find any iron heart gear. Even eBay is higher most of the time. Mixed in with some rakuten promos and the rakuten bucks or whatever. Iron Heart won't be sold at anchor type retailers. Hell some brands don't sell outside of japan besides for a few stores. Self edge, BiG, rivet and hide etc.

Good to know. The price difference still does not make sense to me, but no matter. I'm not likely to ever spend $350 + for a pair of jeans. Some do and that's cool for them. There are quite a few brands in that price range so there is a market.

I don't know if the pic shows it too well, but there is indigo coming through the weft on the cuff. Kind of cool...

So I found a pair of 666-19L in 36 on Rakuten, pulled the trigger. 193 dollars and I think free shipping, I will see when they send the invoice. Real excited for them, I'll be sure to post fit pics etc when they arrive.

So as Mattbert pointed out in another thread, it appears as if my position as enabler-in-chief is being threatened by another member. I will not have this and I am here to take immediate action. So here's a link to three shops on Rakuten that have the IH-707 Weapon Trouser Pants (aka chinos) in lots of sizes. I just picked up another pair, that's how much I like these things. If you want a true work wear Chino that's more auto shop than cubicle, then these are the ones you are looking for. global.rakuten.com/en/search/?tl=551177&k=IH-707Rodeo Bros. actually only has one size left but fukuraku and samuraicraft have a lot of sizes available. FWIW I ordered my second pair last night from Samuraicraft and they are lightning fast. It was shipped within two hours from when I ordered it..it's already on it's way.

Just paid for my 666 19L's 183 dollars total, they gave me the japanese price vs global for some reason and the Rakuten coupon cut off 5 bucks. Going out of town but I'll have an update sometime next week. Excited. Btw ickes I'm going to get a pair of those chinos for my pops.

I noticed at first my credit card was charged twice. One the 30,000 and one 32,000¥. They must have voided the Japanese price one as it went away and I was just charged the non-consumption tax amount
