I love this "Straight of the long-awaited 18o ounce It is 18 ounces of long-awaited cell bitch denim of the RIGHT-ON's than 21 ounces. While being 18oz; the much implantation of the thread, It becomes the cloth which was considerably clogged up with eyes concerning cracking down on for thread and is emphasized hardware さが." They really have a gift for painting a picture in yor mind's eye, don't they! I havnt found the corsiponding IHUK page to get the real info on this denim. ickes do you recall if this is the 'vintage' style denim? yes it is, this is the "vintage" style denim

IH-634S-PD - Indigo 18oz Money Denim Straight Cut - "Yenim" - the warp is made from Japanese currency pulp, so an obvious nickname! - This highly experimental denim utilizes the warp from our 18oz denim and uses a weft made from paper currency pulp, which is half the diameter of a cotton yarn, but twice as strong - We are delighted with the end result which is a denim that feels like 14oz but is stronger than 18oz, however it was a lot more difficult to weave successfully than anticipated so we don’t plan to make this denim/”yenim” again - Because the currency pulp weft is so thin there is not a lot of weft see-through on the face, resulting in a very dark indigo denim Sizes 29-34, 36, 38 & 40 USD450

Credit (or currency) where credit's due. That's pretty kick ass.

But what is the appeal. Do the feel like a lower weight

Looks damn good too! I just don't know how comfy all that 18oz denim would be strapped across my lower back

Looks damn good too! I just don't know how comfy all that 18oz denim would be strapped across my lower back It does look good. Although, with that cinch back, it's more hybrid, than type II. The original Levi's type II introduced slimming tabs, and eliminated the cinch. I can't decide whether I want to think of it as a type II w/cinch, or type I w/2nd pocket. Historical accuracy aside, you aren't going to beat IH's construction and fabric quality, at this price. Had this been available a month ago, when I purchased the Sugar Cane 1953, I would've had to take it into serious consideration. In the end, I wound up with the piece I was truly looking for, though. Edit: Interestingly...I don't know whether it's merely a coincidence, but if the IHJ-51 had been a sample design, historically, that sample may very well have been presented in 1951. Things that make you go...hmm.

Credit (or currency) where credit's due. That's pretty kick ass. Plus you'd be getting a good deal at $450 , as per IHUK, they are loosing money on every pair they sell.

Fixing to get the IH-526SV ordered. Will be my second IH piece. Saw it about a year ago and wanted it but never bought it.
Saw it again and still wanted it. Guess it was meant to be.

IH-634S-18 - 18oz Vintage Style Selvedge Denim Straight Cut "Vintage style" The gospel according to Haraki..... Denim has to be woven slow and low tension by old shuttle loom. And it has to be the thickest made by this way. I don't prefer exaggerated face with just using thick yarn. It should be normal, natural face too. Sanforized is also very important so that we can solve the problem of sizing and consistency. Pure vintage was not my priority. And the sewing should be tough like regular IH heavy oz denim, using core span and thick thread. Again, if we stick to vintage, we would use cotton thread. But we don't do that. Mixing old methods and new techniques is IH's "Vintage Style" 28-34, 36, 38 & 40 USD360

These are awesome. Received my pair a few days ago and haven't taken them off since. Very rigid, crisp, and tough...not soft like the 21oz fabric. Great color and breathable since they are a low tension weave. Fabric is also quite hairy/fuzzy.

IH-634S-18 IHT-1600 Vans Sk8-Hi IH634S-18 IHSH-155 black Vans I tried to capture the fuzziness but it's hard. Great jeans though. They are also available on Rakuten in the 666 and 634 cut. Also they are an extant item which means they will be making more runs.

It'd be fun to see some comparison shots of your IH denim collection--21s, 19L, 14oz, 18 vintage, etc, if you feel so inclined That 1600 is thick AF--I've got the LS version (white) in route, as we type...

I can do that, not sure when but I can get around to doing that one day lol. The 1600 is thick AF. I have the long sleeve (black) and short sleeve versions (black and white) and they are built like a tank. They are a steal if you can snag them off Rakuten which I'm sure you did. I really like the short sleeve versions, the fit is great which is a pleasant surprise because all the other IH T shirts I've seen don't have a great fit for my body type.

I hear you; the fit on my cotton sweater IHTB-01 (medium) is picture perfect, their 6.5oz T-shirts (Large)--only OK.
RB got a restock of their 1501's--black and white (but white--maybe new release--is going quick).
Mihara also reiterated the end of March deadline for IH gear via Rakuten.

ickes - pretty sure i saw you on IH say you returned the 633N's, how would these compare? I know those better than the 21s. Yeah that was me. They are actually pretty damn close in terms of weight (obviously), color, and feel. Keep in mind I only had the 633N's in hand for maybe an hour or so before I put them in the bag. I would say they are the closest IH fabric to the 18oz vintage though but the 18oz is fuzzier/hairier and more rigid. Again, this is just from what I can remember.

Gotcha - trying to decide if this will be a "lighter" 18oz. It's a low tension weave so it's breathable which means it wont be as warm as most other heavyweight denims. It's a great fabric, I highly recommend it.
