www.filson.comJust picked up this: MACKINAW CRUISER - SEATTLE FIT
$89. Can't beat that. 24oz wool. If I don't like it, I can flip it for a profit I'm sure. Note that Filson.com has been overloaded today and you may not get the pages right off. Attachments:

Thanks for that, trying a Lighteeight Cruiser, sort of took a risk on a M, hopefully the sleeves are long enough.

I have long liked the look of the Hacking Jacket and almost pulled the trigger on one. Eventually held off because $350 is still a lot of scratch, and I'm reluctant to spend that much money on an item with so little hard info available on the fit and cut. I do love Filson, but I wish they'd cough up a little more in the way of measurements for some of their stuff.

I get so rarely an item in my size that I had to jump on it. Usually I'll post as I find things, but Filson always clears out quickly. Another issue I have is staying away from buying lots of cold/wet weather gear, which in general, I don't need. Still use for travels, etc. but it's all so tempting that I have to use my wits. When I can find some...

Figured worst case I'll flip 'er. If she likes

It's better than the oil in the Midwest climate and it can be washed.

When I can find some... I smell what you're stepping in there. It's hard to break that mental reflex after a combined 7+ years in Seattle and London. No, self, you actually do NOT need multiple options for 40F and rain. That doesn't happen here.

When I can find some... I do the same thing. I'll usually order the item first, wait til I get shipping confirmation and then talk about the sale after my order is en route. Talking about needing to show restraint though. I picked up the Filson cascade shirt from Unionmade's 40% off sale last week and they had the soy wax short cruiser in my size for $177....marked down from $295. But, I already own a Gustin waxed trucker, Filson tin cloth short cruiser and have a LD cruiser on order. I didn't need the soy wax cruiser but for $177 it was such a great deal for a jacket I rarely see on sale. I let it go.

I have the tin cloth short cruiser in Seattle fit and basically went with my usual size (large). I recently ordered the cascade shirt and even though it's in the Seattle fit I went a size down to a medium. I was told that the Seattle fit for Filson's shirting vs outerwear are completely different. I was looking for a more fitted look/feel so decided to take a chance going down a size

I'm hoping the XXL in Seattle will work. If not, well, she goes up for sale. Nothing lost, everything to gain. I almost bought a lot more with the same thing in mind, but Valentine's Day is nearing and well, gotta keep the Wifey and daughters and granddaughters happy and all...

Is xxl true to size for you with other companies? I always wear a large and the tin cloth short cruiser in large fits perfectly. I even have a little wiggle room for layers which I'm unable to do with my Gustin trucker

So this is a crapshoot of sorts. Glad you say they run close to size. That means I'm likely able to wear it.

Old26 I've found no consistency in their sizing fwiw. I just checked back at Filson and the sale section is gone. Watch STP for the odds and ends soon. They didn't mess around this year, last year it stretched into spring.

Got the Mack today - it's amazing. And I'm ever so glad for the Seattle fit - the regular would be a sack on me! Will try to get some pics up, but I'm going camping for three days, so it might have to wait until next week. Nice piece of wool it is - substantial and soft - not too heavy.
*Edit: If I was smarter, I would have bought an XL and XXL - I think I could do the XL if I only wanted say a T-shirt under it. As it is, it's lovely and I can safely layer. Not a complaint, just saying it's still a good size and on par with other XXL in my shed.

Everybody should have a Filson Mack in the closet, unless you live on the Equator. My dad worked for years in Alaska back in the 40s, and had lots of Filson gear, as it probably was the only game in town, and I have fond memories of him taking me out deer, and elk hunting, and I would wear one of his double Mackinaws. Made my sad when I outgrew it.

I wore it out last night to Old Town for dinner with my wife - the blue & black is very subtle and it's a great piece for SoCal where it gets cold, but not Green Bay cold. I'm super stoked I got it! Highly recommended.

Dammit. I got a Thanks for Trying email from them today. Three days after ordering, they realized they don't have what I paid for. Oh well, still pretty sure I was too aggressive sizing down anyway.
