I'd go with five pockets. It seems weird to have such a rugged ocher duck fabric in a chino pant. Maybe a dark brown or green in a chino. I have some 30oz on the way along with my replacement 12oz five pockets. I really like the feel of some old Carhartts I have, when they get well worn, and the color washes out over time, and takes on a nice hue. Not the typical chino style of material for sure, but I think I will like the slant pockets, and welted pockets in the back, as I don't every carry anything in the back pockets. I'm thinking these will make for a great pair of pants down the road.

Does Duck Canvas shrink at all with a wash? Or is it dry clean only?

Does Duck Canvas shrink at all with a wash? Or is it dry clean only? You can wash duck canvas and just like all cotton it will shrink 1-3%.

Looks like I'll have my revised fit duck canvas in by Friday or Saturday. I'm getting a swatch on the 30oz, too.

I've got a swatch of the 30oz, and have reserved a pair to be made after I get my chinos in hand to check the fit on those. The material is robust, but seems to flex well. Keep in mind this is a 3"x5# piece, so not quite like holding a pair of pants. I think a pair of these, with an articulated knee would fit the bill for a great pair of work, or riding pants. I have seen the 37oz. oiled duck, and deemed it too much for pants, at least for me. Would make a great chore coat/jacket though.

I'd really like to see someone be the go to guy, when it comes to Canvas,Duck. Seems there's a lot of players in the Denim world but not so in the Canvas. I'd really like to this 30oz duck made into a killer chore jacket! I'd OtterWax it and have it rival Filson Tin Cloth.

And while we're on the subject, here's the fade potential for Carhartt duck double knees. Something over a dozen years, a million washes, summers surveying in Alaska, chainsaws, welding, grinding and mechanic work. Attachments:

Ciano is working on a pattern for a duck jacket. They have secured some Pendleton wool to do a jacket with a liner. I'm thinking a CPO shirt in canvas duck would be cool also. The 37oz oiled duck would make a supreme chore coat.

Either that or you'd have to soften it up first by spending a weekend hitting it with a sledge hammer or driving over it in your car.

Something over a dozen years, a million washes, summers surveying in Alaska, chainsaws, welding, grinding and mechanic work. Most impressive. When I was in the field a lot, I'd almost always end up doing something catastrophically stupid or clumsy that would result in the demise or carefully considered early retirement of my Carhartts after two or three years of merciless abuse.

It would make for the manliest of jackets, and not for the feint of heart. The 30oz would probably be more practical, as it is more pliable at first.

Unless this is a new jacket (which he has mentioned) then you can see the duck version of the trucker here. gustinfriends.proboards.com/thread/302/ciano-farmer-kickstarter?page=7

I emailed Ciano to inquire about a Canvas jacket. Not sure is he going to do it but I don't see a lot of stylish heavy canvas jackets in decent prices today.

I really hope the duck/canvas become a strong niche for CF like Digdug suggested. The pricing is only about 50% above Carhartt and the quality is impressive. If my new pants come Saturday, which seems likely, I'll have new fit pics up this weekend. My Zim workshirt needs these pants like you would not believe.

I'm anticipating my chinos, as they should pair well with denim shirts.

Nevermind, that was the old tracking number. Holding out for Monday. It was a disappointing day all around. Found out the guy I bought my Ducati from was full of shit, baby has an ear infection and no pants.

Guy gave me incomplete records omitting the one where he got a quote to replace forks bent back 2". It has also become clear that the 15k mile service that he swore had been done has not been done. Not the end of the world, but disappointing. I took it out my frustration out on a back road at triple digits and now I feel a bit better.

Such a bummer. People suck.
