Tie with a button down collar isn't a great look.

Oh the GD humanity. French cuffs and a button down collar?! F no!!!
Ties and button downs are best reserved for cops and used car salesmen.
Hell, I get mad about French cufffs with buttons on the placket. And lord have mercy on your soul if you try a pocket on a FC shirt and/or with a tie.

Actually the post refers to "collar roll". They show some good examples of what that is, but to me it is casual shirt, and is better without a tie. That said, If you want to be like Cary Grant, wear it like you own it.

Ill give you that collar roll sort of makes a button down, and that the old G shirts had none.

Looks like they took the entire load and put them in grab bags under stock.

Great looking collars. Is this why you like Ratio? I've ordered one white FC shirt from Proper Cloth and have to send it back to have it taken in, but I'm looking to find a go-to for custom OCBDs and Gustin fit also doesn't quite work for me.

I must be in the minority who likes the more modern smaller collar. I'm not a huge fan of elongated points and large collar rolls. But maybe i'm doing it all wrong!

Its hard to beat Ratio. There prices are very much inline with everybody, and you can get an exact fit, and think their collars are very well done. They do have an interlining, but isn't a fused collar, and really isn't noticeable IMO. Shirt makers do it to add a little structure to the collar, where the fused ones you'll see in dress shirts, where the collars are more stiff.

You can ask Ratio to do an unlined collar. You can actually request a lot of things they don't have on their website. I tend to spec a shirt on Proper Cloth's website, then ask for the same thing from Ratio.

The new fit is enough to make me interested again assuming it fits. I always liked their fabrics but the shirts somehow managed to feel too small and too large at the same time. Hopefully they'll have some interesting cold weather fabrics because there are already plenty of flannels out there. I'm guessing the rugged shirt is replacing the old workshirt style, I wonder if they'll bring westerns back in some way. This. I always found them to be too tight in the chest, too blousey everywhere else. I'm not sure the changes will fix this though.

I picked up one of their linen shirts which has an interlining, but honestly, I can't even feel it when I handle the collar. I think they do this for lighter weight fabrics in order to keep some structure to things. I went to order up a wind oxford, but apparently their supplier is back ordered on this, and won't be available until sometime in December.

Nice drops on the brown and grey neppy flannels. Perhaps I'm just looking for reasons not to buy, but I wish they were $10 cheaper or $10 more and selvedge.

These oil washed sweatshirts very much resemble the sweatshirts our local tire store guy "greasy Joe" could be found in daily.

I personally wish the G sweatshirts were a little longer. Well I don't have a sweatshirt preference since I don't wear them. As to the length, it may be part of the new Gustin initiative to add planned obsolescence into their product line. If you make tops right on the border of what fits people, then when they inevitably shrink, said people will have to buy another one. And yes, Greasy Joe was a real guy. I can't tell you how many tires I saw him change over the years. We took all our farm tires to his shop and there is nothing like the rush of adrenaline one gets standing within a few feet of someone taking a sledge hammer to a split ring truck tire with no cage.

Would definitely p/u a double dipped indigo if/when offered again in the new cut. One of my favorite shirts period. Probably have received the most compliments of any shirt I own.

Nothing like a sweatshirt that turns into a crop top as soon as you lift your arms over your shoulders. Not just a G problem. It seems to be the case with most non-hoodie sweatshirts i've tried over the years.

Give the pistol lake sweatshirts a shot. Great length on them IMO.

BTW, is the new vintage plaid a rip off of the Iron Heart 137 from a few years ago or what?

Very similar. Now if they would produce flannel shirts in a heavier range, I might buy one.

BTW, is the new vintage plaid a rip off of the Iron Heart 137 from a few years ago or what? Damn near identical pattern. It looks as though G tried harder, with the alignment. Pockets, front panels, and yolk look pretty good. But, the asymmetrical sleeves and collar tell me they haven't put it all together, yet. I'll still be passing on any G patterned shirts.

Unless you're Scottish, no need to go claiming you invented a flannel pattern. Five Bros from ages ago:
