I'm going to keep wearing them as i really like the evolution and I like the shorter inseam on G's which allows me to do a simple single cuff. I'm just surprised that these Japanese denim are considerably stiffer than my G cone mills that are only 3-4 months older. The cone denim has softened to a real nice feel.

Cone is so uniform and boring though. The Oki have a lot more character. Yet I still wear my one pair of Cones, but the fit is much better

nevermind. looks like another private access dealio I got an e-mail for those. I thought they were very interesting, in that I'd have probably ordered the brown/green pair, but their straight chino is too fitted in the legs for my taste. I don't like my chinos baggy, but do like a bit of room in the legs. I have a couple of pairs from them which I purchased when they first started doing chinos, but I'm out from here on out.

I've been getting some good wear into my Okayama jeans this last month. I picked up a pair last year, and wore them for a bit, before Summer hit. I think I have only washed them once, but they aren't stiff by my standards, but they do have a different feel than a lot of denim. I thinks its because of the tight weave. I think they give up the indigo very stingerly, but slow faders usually turn out to be the best faders.

Are the fit of their chinos different from their denim? I'm too lazy to look at their fit guide

Really, Gustin was my gateway to raw denim, but have moved on to other brands with better fits, like a lot of us have.

I've been following the new collaboration of TS with Civic, which is supposed to be a new line incorporating merino wool. I thought this might be cool, as I am a fan of merino wool. I got an e-mail today with some new products, and they have a shirt they advertise as 70% merino/30% sorona, which they say is a plant based fiber. Am I missing something here? en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SoronaIf this were something like hemp, or other natural fabric, I'd probably take a look. Seems a little misleading as far as being plant based.

It’s made from corn, so it’s “plant based”. Definitely not to be confused with a natural fiber, but some natural fibers have larger carbon footprints than synthetics. So it depends on your reasons for wanting this fabric over that, etc...

I'm sure it has its merits, but I just prefer non synthesized materials.

Am I the only one thoroughly confused by all of their new "corduroy" chinos???
Definitely, the fabric looks a lot more like whipcord/jungle cloth than corduroy... In fact, it looks NOTHING like corduroy.

A cursory search for Bedford corduroy shows this: What Gustin shoes in their pics is this: Here is an image of IH's 816 whipcord workpants: Not saying I'm right or they're wrong, but to my eyes, it REALLY looks like whipcord. Which, is a good thing. Definitely more cool than corduroy, lol

My Okayamas are normal and not stiff. But i have worn them alot and washed them many times. After 12months of wear they really need like 5 washes to get in the zone.
I like mine so much so im really considering getting a second pair even tho the price is way off nowdays.
I was just thinking the other day i should take some pics and post.

Same here, my Okayamas are well worn in. I most likely have 20 washes on them.

Every once in awhile I'd wear them in the summer, but quickly decided they really aren't for >70 degree weather. Legs get pretty hot if the sun is shining on them. I like the denim itself, and the slim Gustin cut is also a really good one for me. I've had mine since Feb. 2016 and mostly worn them on weekends. I have some fading, but not a ton, which is OK. I'm in no rush. This is going to sound like a real newbie question, but when you say "wash" you mean you put them in the washing machine, right? Not soak? I've done a cool water soak on mine once, no washes. Thinking about starting to throw them in the washing machine to get a overall lighter color to the denim. We'll see.

I turn them inside out and wash in cold water with a small amount of detergent. I wore them kind of hard the first 50+ wears so they got enough wear/fades.

Same, these were my first G's and I hot washed and hot dried them to get as much shrink in them as possible, the waist is right around 35". But the cuff's still close to 9", so pretty useless in my wardrobe. I actually like the top block and debated seam ripping the inseam and doing my own taper job, but ultimately don't like the jeans enough to care.
