Is it best to pay with paypal or a credit card? Not sure, I've used credit card every time. You might get a potential fraud alert from your CC company if Japanese purchases are out of your norm so keep an eye out for that. I got one my first time I purchased from Rakuten but that was it.

Is it best to pay with paypal or a credit card? I paid with my credit card no issues at all. I do have a small international transaction fee.

Haven't decided on which no ITF credit card to go with. It's such a small fee, like 3%, but I hate wasting it on something that doesn't really go to anything. Major reason why I'll never go company based proxy service. Would rather give the fees to a person that's helping me, than to a company.

Has anyone bought from rebirth and used a forwarding service? a month and a half late, but yes, I used Celga to get an XL grey black ihsh-127. Rodeo cost me roughly $195 with shipping, but Celga cost me $195 for the item, which included a variety of fees and shipping from Rebirth to the proxy service, then $30 for proxy fees, and then $28 for shipping from Japan. So I ended up forking about $250 all said and done for a $195 item. Not to mention the entire process took about three weeks.

Just ordered two IH items from Rodeo Bros through Rakuten. I got a confirmation mostly in Japanese, this should be interesting. I would never have attempted this without you people, so thanks? Haha, seriously though, $250 for the hickory stripe work shirt and mercerized chinos seems like a steal.

Rodeo Bros are great. I ordered my second rakuten item last night, from hollo-win so far so good.

So the immediate confirmation said 30,240 yen, which is the exact Rakuten price. The follow up from rodeo bros says 28,000 for the shirt and pants plus 4,000 shipping for 32,000 total. Seems like a steal?
So now I just PayPal and reply to them by email saying I've paid?

I've never paid through PayPal but yeah I always reply to those emails and just say "I confirm this order, please send my products as soon as possible"...or something to that effect.

As my wife says "the Japanese are industrious people"

For those of you that have ordered via Rakuten, what did you pay on average for postage? Also, have any of you ever had to pay duties on your purchase?

Same as the others, over 15 items ordered from Rakuten and I've never paid duties (located in US). I want to say the shipping is somewhere around 12-15 dollars? But I can't remember exactly.

man....has anyone else noticed a bit of a delay in the shipping of products from Japan during this holiday period? I'm waiting on some Sugar Cane and Buzz Rickson gear from Rodeo Bros and Rakuten and normally they would have been here by now. They should have been here a few days ago. I'm not really complaining as either way it will still probably get to me in a timely manner considering it's from Japan, but I'm kind of getting worried at this point. Hope my shit didn't end up missing. Maybe customs is cracking down on packages during the holiday season and there's a backlog there???

Where does the tracking say the packages are? I'm no religion genius, but I wouldn't have thought Japan celebrates Christmas, so it's probably just business as usual there.
I'd also have thought that US customs are less likely to crack down at Christmas as it must be the busiest time of the year and cracking down would lead to huge backlogs. In theory, that's the best time to sneak things through, as the chances of getting caught are much less.
Hopefully it's just stuck in US sorting and a victim of the busy period rather than held in customs.

Good points wdw. I'm actually not sure where the tracking says they are. Deliveries from Japan have previously been so consistently prompt that I got to the point where I just quite bothering with checking the tracking info on them cause I had so much faith in their solid delivery times. I'll dig through my emails and try to find that out.

Im still waiting on my order from the 18th, which is coming via EMS from Okayama Denim. Im only at 6 days and I'm in the Midwest. In Japan, Christmas is mostly a commercial holiday and a means for consumers to spend money. Nothing more. About 1/3 of the population is Christian, so I'm sure there are some that observe x-mas as a traditional holiday. I just think its that time of year for all mail carriers and they're bogged down

but to add to my comment, I understand your anxiety. When you've dropped a sizeable chunk of cash on clothing it's no fun playing the waiting game. In my case, PBJ was out of the deep indigo jacket for awhile and when wabisabi caught wind of stock at OD, I jumped at the opportunity. I would be totally bummed if my jacket got lost in the mail or if some douche stole my package, especially since they're hard to come by at Japanese prices.
