Does this guy have a site? I like his mariner vest.

The Wabisabi Japanese Herringbone Newsboy from the Kickstarted campaign showed up today, very happy with the hat, not so happy with the packaging. Thankfully the bill doesn't have a rigid stiffener so the fold it showed up with can be ironed out. Definitely the exact same fabric as the Gustin Wabisabi Workshirt. The headband has a duck canvas liner in it, backing what appears to be a selvedge broken twill lining (which also comprises the underside of the bill). I love this fabric and I'm glad to have been able to pick this thing up. Took these with the flash cause I'm lazy. No flash, underside of bill.

So I was examining my hat a bit closer -- it's been a long morning already, is it Monday? -- and here's a breakdown... The headband liner is made of what seems to be a 9oz or so Ochre canvas (exact color of Ciano Farmer ochre jeans I got). The headband looks exactly like the Japan Union Blue, however the weft on it looks like a diagonal railroad stripe, and whatever it is, I would so love to have a shirt made of it. The actual liner is what seems to be a lightweight broken twill (seen in the pictures of the inside of the hat). I'll put up some pictures of this stuff later, really nice work, though.

the question we're all begging to ask, are you a real newsboy?

the question we're all begging to ask, are you a real newsboy? No, but I finally have the hat, so the rest should be coming along shortly.

Actually, come cities are using a newer, smaller layout. If I'm somewhere like the barber shop I'll pick one up. I had a big paper route when I was a kid, I guess I still have fond memories of them. But yeah, it's pretty much dead overall. Like LP's, tapes, CD's, DVD's and the stores that sell them (sans a few epic vinyl shops).

I know you guys have been holding your breath, here's some of those "inside the hat" pics. The headband material -- it almost looks like Japan Union Blue, short the selvedge ID, and the weft... So the stripey fabric you see here is the weft of that headband fabric. This also shows you the canvas mentioned earlier and the broken twill lining the inside of the cap.

I've been hawking this vest, for some time now..... Unfortunately, the largest size is one size too small. I contacted Russell about adding a size, and he said, he may have time to develop a pattern in spring. I've got my fingers crossed. link

I was such a big fan of my Circle A Brand Mariner's vest, I decided to pick up a second. I was thinking about kakishibu-ing my new one, to change things up a little. What do y'all think I should do to it?

@untucked pretty sure it was part of his kickstarter... it really is awesome - great fit, blanket lining, even blanket lined hand pockets, and very comfortable DigDug you're probably right - I just spent hours reading up on the whole Kakishibu thread Stevekas started years ago... What if I bleached it first like you did, @untucked, on your IH western? I may have to research what kind of effect bleach would have on the wool blanket lining first.

Are they not a regular "for sale" item?
I would say if you have any wear or fading on the first one you got, kakishibu that one, if you're really set on doing it. If you're going the bleach toe, definitely research it tho lol

I doubt it; I've never seen the vest for sale on his site before.
Yeah I don't think i'm going to risk bleaching the pure wool blanket lining I'm looking into a black walnut dye instead

I like some of what this brand puts out, but they never seem to have any actual stock of anything which makes buying from them frustrating.
