ShopSpring.com is offering 25% off Brave Star selvage. I have enjoyed my Cramerton twill and my Ironside jacket, figured it was a good time to take a chance on the denim. Picked up the 15 oz for $62 shipped. Hard to pass that price up.

Picked up the 15 oz for $62 shipped. Hard to pass that price up. I immediately went to buy another pair of the slim taper Cramerton chino's but they are sold out in my size. I next thought about the summer weight slim taper in the 12.5 cone mills but that configuration is not listed. I need to study out the measurement difference between the slim taper chinos and the slim straight fit.

I noticed on their site as well, that they are doing a 21.5 oz presale.

Went to the bravestar site and did a measurement comparison between the slim taper chino measurements and the slim straight fit. The measurements are very similar. Comparing size 33 (which is what I have in the chino), the slim straight fit has a slightly lower back rise (15 vs 16") and about 1/2" tighter in the knee. Seems like both pants are made out of the same material...I wonder why the jeans cut is $19 cheaper than the chino cut?

Now I'm gonna have to go buy a pair of those for I think $69 shipped.. a radical value? j/k but that would make my 3rd pair of "light" jeans. Still working on filling in seasonal gaps........ But man, I wish he would do those chinos in more colors!

I have the chino in slim straight and in the denim fit. Not sure why it's cheaper, but I like them. Good score for sure.

Received the 15 oz. Not bad. I appreciate that Brave Star (3 for 3) has been spot on with their measurement guide (Ironside denim jacket, Cramerton twill in slim straight cut, and now these in the slim/skinny). The 15 oz definitely feels solid but wearable, even in AZ. Not too starchy or stiff, but enough that I could see some good wear if I really break these in hard. The waist fits spot on for me (sz 31, I'm a 33 in G), and while the top block isn't as roomy as my G's, it should break in nicely. Inseam arrived at 33, and it's good for me to do a single or double cuff. Overall, nice craftsmanship, nothing too fancy but solid for American made and $62.

Which cut did you buy that was not as roomy as your G's? ANd which G cut? Thanks I wanted a skinnier pair. I have a pair of 33 skinny G's in the Italian BlackxBlack that I really like the fit (not skinny like Metallica 80's jegging skinny), so I opted to try the Skinny Skeleton from Brave Star. The fit is more of a taper in the thigh through the calf. The opening itself is about 1/8-1/4" smaller than the G, so it's again not jeggings. The top block will open up some more with wear. With the 15 oz fabric, they will require a little more break in effort, but that's not a problem. I'll begin to rotate these in with my G American Antiques and Soso Broken Twills.

I just emailed Mik to ask about the measurements on the Tapered Chino's which I do not see on site. I want them so I can compare to their jean offerings and purchase accordingly. I needed that information to take advantage of that last sale. My thought here is that even though I could look at their jeans measurements, I'd prefer to do an apples to apples comparison based on a pair of theirs I already own so as to be as close as possible to Brave Stars template. And DUH, found it, it's on the Tapered Chino product page. bravestarselvage.com/pages/tapered-chino-size-chart Tapered Chino Slim Taper Slim Straight SIZE 36 36 36 WAIST 19.25 19.25 19.25 F.RISE 12.25 11 3/4 12 1/2 B.RISE 17 1/2 15 1/2 15 1/2 THIGH 13 7/8 13 13 1/2 KNEE 9.5 8 3/4 9 OPENING 8 7 7/8 8 1/4 INSEAM 34 35 36

Really nailed. I have bravest straight in denim but was looking for something to match up with the chino-which have a great top block...only issue is the shorter rise on the denim...wish it was an inch longer....

Your welcome, just notice that those numbers for the chino is the tapered chino vs. the slim chino. THe 2 numbers on the right are for the jeans.

Was considering this sale to take a flyer on them as well. Clearly they are popular since they essentially sold out that quick. As for restocking, I think they restock maybe every other month or so - at least that seems to be the trend of late.

That's really tempting. 1% stretch isn't a deal breaker for me. I probably get 1% stretch on some of my denim from repetitive wear.

Are you going in on this? I'm thinking I may opt for a size down - since I'm right in between the S and M and while I like the fit of the M, the small may be the sweet spot since I don't want to soak it.

No. I think I decided that I want to leave jean jackets behind me.
I'm more of a car coat guy and prefer the bottoms of my coats to hit below the waist so they function as coats.
Plus I ordered a *gulp* shackett from CF that will be long enough to cover my untucked long sleeve shirts in Tall sizing.

You might be able to order a jacket from Brave Star and break it in before you get your CF shackett...unfortunately. Not sure of your sizing, but I'm 5'10 with no odd sized proportions, but the M definitely works well with an untucked shirt (Gustin dick curtain shirts excluded). The length is a little longer than a classic trucker (which is what I wanted). I think my jacket hangs right at the bottom curve of my front pockets, perhaps a little higher. I posted pics previously with fit.

I thought that was part of the appeal of the ironside, the longer length. The steadfast, no way. Reminds me of those tiny things girls wear.
