Tried to post a picture a cousin sent me with my grandfather, father, and cousin from Black Diamond WA. in the 1950s, but its not working.  I though it was cool how fashion goes full circle, in that my dad, and granddad had flannel shirts with coveralls, and my cousin had cuffed jeans, with a henley shirt.

I probably should've gotten to the subject, by now. But, I've been holding off on a review of the Marrone, until I have some miles on them.

Coincidentally, the color is the only issue I took with them. I ordered them with the original sample photos in mind. When they arrived, they were quite a bit lighter in color than that. They also looked "thirsty". Mind you, I'm not saying the leather looked dried out. The leather just seemed less processed than other tanned leather goods I've acquired. Minimal conditioning. I considered returning them, but I didn't want the hassle, and thought a good slathering of Obenauf's would probably do the trick. So, that's what I did, and it worked. They no longer looked thirsty, and darkened up considerably. Not quite as dark as the samples, but close. They've gotten darker with wear, as well.

I really like the Aubergine. But, for my taste, I'd still go with the Marrone. To me, it's a more natural brown.

I think the issue I had, with the color and condition of the leather, may be outlier, though. I ordered during the first run of the Marrone. About 8 weeks after I ordered, I inquired about their status. I was told they were delayed, due to the tannery being late with their order. My theory is, either Truman oversold, or the tannery shorted the order. It's debatable. In response, I think the tannery may have minimized some of the leather finishing processes, to speed up the delivery of leather needed to complete the first run. Hence, a lighter color, and lack of conditioning. If ordered again, I think I'd be more likely to get boots that look like the sample.

So I randomly meet "boo" from orange is the new black today in Brooklyn while working. Thankfully I was wearing my 511 white oak selvedge and my Patagonia tres parka today and a pair of Nike an lows.

Bad picture. I'm feeling lazy today after hunting for three straight mornings.
I really like the look of this flannel with faded jeans though.
