I can't find the website for these excellent belts. What's the URL again?

Question for everyone: how do you care for your belts? Do you use Obenaufs, mink oil, or some other kind of conditioner/preservative? Will some kind of conditioner/preservative darken the belt at all? I use a tiny bit of coconut oil and rub it in. It softens the belt up and the oil, being a saturated fat doesn't go rancid and the belt breathes well since it doesn't clog the pores of the leather. The edges I burnish with natural beeswax.

nater, Thanks! I'm glad you like the belt. As for burgundy, we can do that but it's not currently shown on the website, it will be a "custom" option using that buckle and burgundy. Alternately we do have a number of other belts in Burgundy as standard offerings. Carholders are in progress. Up soon, needed to sort a few details. wdw, I have some milled leather coming in that I'm going to used to make a 5 pocket, standard veg tan makes for an overly thick 5 pocket.

@stevekas, sounds good. I hope you'll be able to do the 5 pocket in one of your bright colours, as that's the main draw for me.
I'll hold off on my next belt until you've finalised the cardholders.

benjaminpersitz, I just got the hardware in for the first prototype bag. Hoping to have the bag itself sewn up in a week or so. Still working out the designs for the straps etc. I'm basically building myself a new messenger bag and being incredibly self centered about what I want lol. It will have certain features that I favor such as gusseted side construction instead hidden or "inside out" stitching that is seen on lots of canvas or soft leather bags, full stainless steel hardware and copper rivets and a bag that is just one big volume rather than divided up into subcompartments. This bag is a do all bag for me meaning it will be light carry on luggage, a laptop carrier for work/business and also motorcycle capable so I don't want it to be specialized toward one use. Sort of going with the original idea of a messenger bag, just a super utilitarian bag that you can stuff all of your crap into. I know some guys like a pocket and zipper compartment for everything they carry, that's not my goal on this one. I'll post up pics when it's finished as I'd love to get some feedback from everyone. It won't necessarily be "the first Marshdown bag", but if folks like it, it will go forward into production.

Gentlemen, gentlemen, gentlemen..... I'm not one to type reviews; I tend to get my items and just post pics. This is different though. This item, though many of you wouldn't want to carry it, is exactly what I envisioned and asked for... And MORE. I contacted @stevekas a few months back asking or a custom piece... A natural veg tanned iPhone 6+ phone holster. He accepted the tasking, and after some pm's and pics, he got to working on it betwixt working belt orders. Today I received it, and it's a BEAST of an item! The leather he used is thicker than some belts I've owned! I mean, I don't know how his hands handled stitching it, but I'm glad he managed!

A natural veg tanned iPhone 6+ phone holster. That's beautiful now... but it'll look other-wordly in a few years time.

I just Goodwilled a Chester Mox iPhone5 sleeve. Beautiful thing, but I couldn't think of a way to repurpose it. But enough bitching, that thing is awesome! You could probably toss your phone off a reasonably tall building and not hurt the phone.

@untucked, THANK YOU!!!! I had a blast making your piece and I am really happy you like it. It is indeed built for the long haul and I'm guessing your tropical climate mixed with some good solid use will result in a beautiful patina. If you swap out phones, we can just make you a custom flask to fit the case Thanks for the kind words, guys.

@stevekas, I've tried quite a few times over the last few weeks to go on your site but I never see it on google.
Is it live? Did you ever get anywhere with the coloured cardholders? I was hoping to combine one with a heavy natural belt.

wdw, let me try and thanks for the heads up. It could be all of our computers default to the archived version of the site when we search from our local machines. For my info, what are you using as a search criteria, just Marshdown or? In the mean time, this should work www.marshdowngoods.comAlso I haven't forgotten about your 5 pocket cardholder....let me PM you today or tomorrow at the latest.

@stevekas I just finished reading this entire thread. Really enjoyed seeing your craft evolve into a full-fledged business. Huge congrats! Now I would like to purchase one of these beautiful belts. There wasn't contact info on your site so I'll ask here. You can take to PM if you'd prefer. Is it possible to get the Tradesman w/ Heavy Nickel buckle in the Burgundy color that you use on the RCA belt? Or use the RCA burgundy blank but use the Tradesman buckle and add a keeper loop?

Let me PM you later today. Thanks for the interest! Maybe I'll do another run of belts here. Also here's a very early and unfinished prototype bag I'm working for my own use (posted for benjaminpersitz and others who asked). It's a messenger bag but is taller that it is wide for use on the motorcycle for short trips. A wide bag sticking out to the side is not good for the profile when splitting lanes etc and flaps in the wind a lot more. This thing is only about 60% done and is pretty raw right now. Not sure if there is any interest in something like this? I'm doing a strap design that will stabilize the bag as well and keep it from swinging around like a purse. I'll be doing a more standardized messenger bag in the future.

I found I don't really have the patience for stitching the straps by hand, so high five to you for that (my fingers are sore just looking at that thing). The thing I struggle with on the designs of my own are how to deal with where the strap digs into the flap. I've seen the way a few designers have dealt with it, haven't really settled on anything I like.

benjaminpersitz, yeah, it will definitely fit a laptop. I'm putting a tablet sized upper outside pocket on the front that will be covered by the main flap as well (also for keys/pens etc. exophobe, thanks! the hand stitching requires me to get into a certain zone so I can just settle down and do it lol. All the buckle and D ring attachments are stitched as well but just the bottom strap layer through the bag wall for strength (and therefore hidden). This thing tested my stitching patience for sure. bentin, I want to make some bags similar to that using Latigo with internal stitching.

benjaminpersitz, just getting the shop unpacked this week. Bags soonish but not ready yet. I finished the prototype and have a few changes to make on a second bag. If it looks good, I'll offer a few to see what people think. Also, belt special coming this week, keep an eye on this thread!

OK guys, here we go, new belt offer! This is Stage 1, Saddle Skirt leather belts. We've added a lighter weight option 11oz skirt leather in addition to our normal 15 oz. It's still the same "break it in so your grandkids can inherit it" tough leather, just not quite as thick. Stage 2 coming next week, veg tan belts with color and buckle options See this thread for reviews and examples of work etc. One thing that may or may not matter to you, I can't guarantee shipment in a cigar box. I'll try my best but volume has increased and they don't kill and mount as many cigar boxes as they used to out here in California. I think it's related to the drought and dwindling population numbers. Actually, it's this old lady who goes into my local supplier and cleans them out for church projects that she has kids do for online sales. She and I have seen each other, locked eyes and quickly established an honorable arrangement, we are frenemies. Whoever gets the boxes first gets the boxes, no whining. The humidor manager is very random in his cleanout schedules so you never know when the nex boxes will appear, ready for purchase. I'd slip him a 20 for inside information via text but I'm sure she'd catch on and she's an old school, post WWII salt of the earth woman....what I'm saying is she would beat my ass if she found out. All belts will be carefully packaged as before except you may get a clean, unbleached hat box rather than a cigar box depending on the current status of my territory battle with the old lady. The struggle is real. Link to deal details here.... imgur.com/a/ll4jU
