Really interested to learn what market your going for DD: I.E. entry level like N&F or top shelf stuff like IH/TFH... Any super duper special cotton denims in the pipeline, hidden rivets? BTW not trying to be pushy for info, but would get super excited if this is going to be a domestic IH or something... Well we are yet to really sit down to do any sort of real designing other than jeans. As for the style I think we are going to stay away from stamping ourselves as a "BIKER" brand. I for one do not know the 1st thing about what "bikers" want to wear but I do know I like what IH stands for. Id put IH up on the top for the people who generally like IH and of course because of Giles. I love what IH puts out especially their tops but at this point saying we will come out with fabric & styles equal to theirs would be a lie. I want to build up our capabilities by starting out with some basics and then slowly introduce fabrics & designs that will be a mix of must haves & day to day pieces. If I had a million dollars it would be easier but I know what we can and cant do at this point. I like the idea of being able to make pieces that will fit a rugged style of workwear but then also be good for casual wear.

Awesome day today. We bought some Niphon Menpu fabric 13 oz red ticker and a 16 oz Cross Hatch which are both pretty awesome. We alos grabbed a Candiani black on black (u have seen this as the Black Appeal) I really like the 2 Indigo's as I think they will make for some great fades as well as something different. At this point we will put everything we have into building the brand so these 1st few denims when sold will go right back into the brand. We will also be putting out many other denims we have seen before but these 3 will be used for our official launch . So look for us to put out 50 pairs which will consist of Cone mills, Kaihara, Candiani and Kuroki denims and then another 50 to 60 of the denim we bought today. Those new denims will have about 20 pairs of each. Small start but we have to start somewhere. We are still waiting on buttons and rivets but thats my main objective atm as well as some branding needs.
Thank you guys for all ur well wishes

Are you looking for investors, kick starter, pan handling etc. KS was brought up but I dont want our initial demo to come from that. I want to build our customer base on the street kinda like a Rapper and mixtapes. Of course KS is always an option but id like to develop our image and then if needed take on KS. I mean ideally I would love for this to do well on its own and embrace the slow and fun process

Best of luck Dirty_Denim. Looking forward to seeing what you guys produce. Thank you so much. I am happy to report my wife finally showed some optimism with this crazy decision of mine. She is the typical pessimist with anything to do with dreams. When I play the "if i won the lotto game" she always says " We cant win" so that game is no fun with her. Put it this way, i played the NY Pick 4 using mine and her birthday (2180 & 4210)either $1straight $ 1 box or $2 straight $2 box a few times a week. One day I hit my Bday straight for $1 -$1 $5200 (yes it was amazing) I called her up from my job to tell her we won. She responded with "No we didnt" This isnt the shocked and disbelief way of saying "No we didnt" but the "NO WE DID NOT WIN" & then when I convinced her we really won she responded with " We probably won like $200" I had to wait till we both got home from work so I could take her into a lotto spot to prove what we won lol. Amazing & smart but she is a believer in science & not a higher power

Slow and steady wins the race, is right. This is exciting. Every Niphon Menpu example I've seen fades like crazy. Should be cool.

you could also use the name "Norma Jeans" as a play on Marylin Monroe's birth name Norma Jeane. your first pair of denim could be called "The Seven Year Stitch."

I know everyone is getting caught on the Gene in the name. Don't think of it as Indigo GENE but instead one word where u dont separate the the 2 words while u are saying it. U guys are doing this because i told u there are 2 words in there. Anyone else seeing it for the 1st time wont have that obstacle as they will see it as its printed. Of course Selvedgestyle got a full explanation which I will not do anywhere on our website when that opens. It will just be a word created to blend with the logo once thats done
I N D I G O G E N E not INDIGO - GENE. HAA
Ok the denim we ordered is being picked and then packaged this week. Should have it in 2 weeks.

Pocket liners(bags) will be a detail we take full advantage of. I am sourcing (trying) to get some amazing fabric for the liners like Japanese kimono fabrics, wabash and a few others. I am also working o a back pocket stitch design that will be on certain jeans (NOT ALL) I personally love a great back pocket design. The hem will of course be chainstitched as well as a few other areas. Double stitch on the inseam, waist band will have one single stitch

As of right now I like the idea of stamping the pocket bags and then having the leather tag be branded. The tag if i have my way will be either indigo colored with white lettering or logo or a white leather patch with indigo lettering and or logo

Oh and we will be vanity sized. As of right now a 32 will measure 34in roughly and a 36 will come in at 38. Thats what we are going for with these 1st round of jeans. I will tweak it as needed until we settle on a final for launch
