You find a ton of sweet deals in Japan, Untucked. I haven't started exploring the thrift stores around AZ yet, but I'm sure any in the "higher-rent" neighborhoods around me will have some potential.

I've been coming across lots of Pendleton and Woolrich items lately... And lots of selvedge; "Big E" Levi's, Sugar Canes, Lee's..... I've been basking in the glory of workshirts lately:

I miss the heavier stuff. It's 88 degrees here in mid-October. I'm gonna have to crank down the AC or visit my family in PA to get into the Woolrich stuff.

I'll take pics later, but it's like the bastard child of a wool chore coat and a sports coat. Forrest green color. Fit isn't perfect, but I couldn't pass it by.

Any decent tailors out there that can make the fit closer to perfect? Might be worth it with that gem.

The arm holes are too big also. Can that be fixed?

You'd almost be better off sourcing the fabric and getting a custom shirt made.

It's not that it doesn't fit, its just not a very modern fit. I guess I'll roll with it as is

I also discovered the motherload of Pendleton shirts in size Med., many of them appear to be brand new. Most are only $38, the other few are $48.

I have that barn coat from Bean's, and it is indeed very boxy. Nice and burly. Mine's getting close to 20 years old, and it's in as good or better shape than your thrift shop find there, @untucked. Here I am really putting it through its paces a few years ago. Actually, I say "have" the coat but I pretty much did a hand-me-up to my dad about 15 years ago and just started leaving it at my parents' house. He gets a lot more regular use out of it than I ever would, and I get the benefit of knowing I never need to pack a coat like that when I go visit them.

Harris Tweed Sports coat thingy..... Is the collar quilted like that because it's designed to be worn popped? I don't think I've ever seen that on a tweed blazer before.

Sugar Cane green line selvedge, sz 30 (slim straight I think), $45. They appear to be unworn, definitely unwashed so still raw. Trying not to feed in to the hype, but I did an image search of "brown sugar cane denim" and many of the images that share the same color and selvedge ID link to articles stating that this is kakishibu dyed, and most were a few years old (articles)...

Those are a beautiful find.. I think the board needs to take a field trip to Japan. They look an awful lot like the DTB's (14oz Nihon Menpu) that some have claimed are kakishibu dyed. The selvage ID is the only difference.

Hi fellas! OK this is the first time I'm going to try and post some pics, so bear with me if it doesn't turn out well Alrighty then...I was at my local army/navy surplus store and found a German police combat jacket. They call it a jacket, I call it a kick ass heavy shirt. Some of the details are pretty impressive : hidden buttons, snaps, and zippers give it a nice clean look. The chest pockets have both snaps and zippers. I like the way the corners of the pocket flaps are folded in. Vented arm pits. The front placket also has both buttons and a 2-way zipper. The 2 lengths of stitching down the back (not sure what you call them) seem to give it a fitted, more tapered look. It's fully lined all the way down the sleeves. The 2 strips of fabric running vertically from the bottoms of the chest pockets, are made to hold shotgun shells...there are more on the sides, so I can carry a full dozen shells. I found that my little mp3 player fits perfectly in the shell holders. On the left sleeve, there is a zippered pocket. A zippered pocket on the inside, with a pencil holder. This beauty is at least 10 oz...if not closer to 12. Hidden under the collar are a tab and buttons to close it up tight on cold windy days. I think I got a heck of a deal for $1.95 Also pictured are my 16er's I've been meaning to post pics of, and my boxer Abby snuck in there The 16er's...if you like the fit, are why I was so adamant on the G board, for folks not to return the beasts and 23's. The 16er's were way small, looked painted on tight, I couldn't button the top button. If you stick with it, this is the kind of fit you can expect from your too small beasts and 23's. oh yeah, they are slims. EDIT: damn, what a mess not exactly what I wanted out of the pics,....I need some practice. It wouldn't let me upload the full size pics, because they're like over 4 mb. so i used a thumbnail generator...need to figure something else out...how in the hell do you guys get those bigger pics? EDIT: OK I deleted my crappy pics and made an imgur album that has better pics if you want to see them link

In case there was any confusion, I can guarantee with 100% certainty that the @untucked Gentleman lives up to his moniker. He not only sent me a beautiful pair of Sugarcanes for an absolute steal, but included some snacks to help ensure I fill 'em out properly =) Thanks, man!
