Hell, this is a much better Forum. The G Community Page felt like a thread from here.

Kinda shocked they deleted it. Without any warning. Hell last spring they made a big deal to revamp it. Too many negative posts probably and people wondering where there stuff was.

g.comm was limited to certain registered users and robots were disallowed from indexing it. I'm really surprised they killed it off, as they had it fairly well firewalled--the complaints there were like a tree falling in an unoccupied forest.
IMO, it was better for them to have people complaining in a controlled environment vs. complaining somewhere else.
oh well. say lovie.

Ha... i was banned by G since November... and it is actually great. I have absolutely no reason to visit the Gustin site now and no need to listen to all the hypers/fanboys there. Saved a bunch.

To a degree I can see why they didn't want negative posts about them on their own site but they should have at least kept the B/S/T forum open. I just happened to find a pair of American Graphite chinos on there the other day. That forum was a good resource for members. It's a shame they took that down along with everything else.

Most of the guys that were posting on g-comm are also over on the styleforum thread, I imagine a lot of that traffic will filter into there, god knows the "where's my stuff?!" questions have.

It was fun while it lasted. Too bad they shut it down. You would think they could have announced it before doing it. Oh well.

I received a bottle opener and they're actually pretty cool, although I would never back one.
Hey look at it this way, the Gcomm gave birth to this forum right here. If it weren't for the Gcomm this place would never exist so imo it served a good purpose in its short life span.

I received navy, graphite and duck canvas chinos and all were within spec. All a little under but within tolerances. I ordered 2 or 3 before and all were way under. 4 months to get them right but I prefer that over 8-10 weeks and getting them wrong.

Random question: for those of you with lightweight denim jeans (think approx 10oz) do you find more give or stretch in the lightweight fabrics? Would the waist on a lightweight fabric stretch more than, say a 15oz fabric would?

Would the waist on a lightweight fabric stretch more than, say a 15oz fabric would? I don't know about 'more' as in the max amount of stretch, but as a general rule the lightweight stuff ought to stretch more quickly and more easily compared to a similar but heavier denim. I would imagine the max amount of stretch you'll get in a given fabric has more to do with the tightness/looseness of the weave. The weight will play into it, but I doubt it's the primary driver. For example, my Supple 16s (16oz) were "broken in" about thirty seconds after I put them on for the first time, whereas my Raw Umbers (11.5oz) took a few days to get comfortable and I don't think they've stretched as much as they can yet. Basically, I think weight plays a relatively small role in determining what the max stretch point is for a pair of jeans, and it plays a much bigger role in determining how fast you get there and how much you suffer along the way.

Yup, if you take the same weight/type of denim and compare one with a tight weave and one with a loose weave, the loose weave is going to be the fabric that stretches out most easily, quickly and to the largest degree. It's basically the same principle with any type of woven fabric. Which makes it all the more strange that many jeans manufacturers and retailers barely mention the nature of the weave, even in otherwise detailed descriptions.

Thought I'd add an update that the new status for my cashmere order makes public what we've all been suspecting/hearing in emails and keeping mum: orders are no longer delivered in one batch but instead trickle in as they finish. This is why the promised ship dates (in the order updates section) have been more difficult to be accurate with recently.

I recently received my #131 RUSTIC MULTI TWILL and while the fabric is really nice and the pattern is rad I ended up sending it back because of what I called a disappointment in the lack of quality control. Maybe I was being too picky but on a patterned shirt like this I would have expected the pattern to be symmetrical on both sleeves. Instead it was a complete mismatch. Their response... "sorry, send it back." I guess what I am seeing on other posts is true. Nice materials, suspect work.
I guess I am probably beating a dead horse with this too but now that I have store credit wouldn't it make sense for them to start dropping summer clothes right about now instead of more flannels that won't be ready until you know...summer?

If there's any one QC-related thing that G has been rock solid reliable on for me lately, it's the jeans sizing. Especially the waist. Close to a dozen pairs since last summer, and all of them were right on the money for the waist measurement or comfortably within the 0.5" fudge factor for tolerances. I honestly felt like they'd finally gotten the jeans production pretty tightly dialed in, so it's disappointing to hear of things like your pair of HAs there still slipping through the cracks.
