Bringing this back from the dead. I'm looking for a wool jacket along the lines of the Le Labourer. Any ideas?

I posted this on another thread and I can't find it in stock anywhere now, but it may be worth giving Tender an e-mail to see if they're releasing anything along these lines for winter this year. Details and construction are very, very good. www.hickorees.com/brand/tender-co/product/type-915-blanket-wool-guards-jacket-natural-black-sheep-woolOther than the obvious, I think Monitaly may have had a wool chore coat at some point? They're pretty hard to come by, especially in a decent fit.

I was in the market for a chore coat. Having seen DigDug 's Pointer, I started there. The only drawback, for me, was the overall length. I'm not always a fan of tails peeking out. Another brutal Wisconsin winter was fast approaching, as well. So, I opted for the longer, lined barn coat, instead. The great thing is, their barn coat has the same basic look as the chore. The length and liner are simply bonus features. As far as a fairer weather chore goes, I may place an order with CF, and hope it's here by spring... Now, I wonder, should I wax this sucker...

I've been eyeing that one. Like the liner bu not sure if I like the corduroy collar

Can you seam rip the corduroy off? I assume there's a regular collar under there.

I understand it may not be as visually appealing, and it's intended purpose could be perceived as trivial. But, it does keep with tradition, which I like. As I was window shopping, I was considering vintage pieces, as well as new. Google searches led me to this, on etsy... I love the look of this. Good ol' Sears Hercules, from the 50s. My grandfather had one like it. I may have snapped it up, had it been close to my size. In the end, I think the Pointer was a great alternative, which I'll just have to beat up, myself.

@scooter If this is a jacket to throw briefly I wouldn't wax it. If it's something you'll wear for awhile maybe (it takes a little time to warm up a stiff waxed jacket). If you decide to wax it, make your own wax. It'll be cheeper and just as good compared to Otter Wax/Filson. Not sure how waxing a lined jacket will come out.

I'll wear it almost daily, November through February. Because of the lining, I was questioning whether I should. What's the chances of the wax seeping through the canvas, and affecting the lining ? Maybe, just a light waxing ? If I were to do it, I'd certainly be good with making own wax.

It did penetrate to the back side a little but not enough that I'd be concerned about the liner. After I heated and melted the wax, I used a stiff bristled brush to brush off any extra wax that couldn't be absorbed into the cloth.

A more casual chore coat made out of flannel from Portugese Flannel. Pinheiro Chore Coat. I'm picking up the camel one.
