Too bad the war on drugs can't end with the passing of Nancy. They just need Kurt Vile back.

Those are called souvenir jackets and believe it or not they are actually quite popular right now with vintage hunters and supposedly celebrities as well. I've also read articles saying that modern designers are jumping on the badwagon and they are supposed to be the next "hot trend". These became popular after WWII had ended and the American servicemen stationed in Japan would take their bomber jackets to local tailors to have them adorned with colorful oriental designs as a memento of their time served in Japan. This is how I understand the history of the jacket but maybe someone can correct me if I'm wrong or provide more details. Anyways, those actually do have a history to them even though they do look.....different.

maybe someone can shed some light on this. maybe this should remain in a deep dark place... "Loosers" written on the jacket front and back is what "made me laugh". Losers would be comical, but > two bills with a "typo"(?) written prominently on the jacket is approaching ROFL copter territory. I can see the genre combining a modern sci fi twist--think Godzilla, cobras with laser beams shooting out their eyes, half lion/half octopus etc...with the traditional souvenir jacket. I'll get some designs drawn up (jk)

They're still common place around military bases and naval ports throughout Asia. And, chances are that it's not a typo. Being in the military is a big, huge bro club... Lots of inside jokes, raunchy humor or intentionally use terrible grammar (Engrish). Many of the jackets and custom made garments display those characteristics...

The Japanese seem to like self deprecating humor.

Your photo is so small on my phone, and I thought it will be "Shunga" when I clicked on your link. What's a disappointment.
