Bugula...... What size are you?...... No way you wear all that denim, but I love the passion brotha! I've ordered pairs in both 36 and 35 slim (thinking the 35 slims are going to work best for me so my more recent backings are that). |

Man that is a ton of Gunit stuff. I backed a ton this last spring. Now it's wearing time. I would like to try the Gustin chinos but they need to be a special fabric. I am good on basic colors with my banana republic and alpha khakis

Man, I'm being too lazy to figure out how the quoting works (just cut and paste?). Anyway, regarding Japan Shine, the thing I've regretted about it is that that was the last of my budget, and the Loomstates dropped within days of that campaign funding. I'm hoping for a kind of weft show that the BlackxAqua had, because it helps maintain a somewhat traditional look, but then once you get closer it really has a unique look. Even though there's no chance, I can't help but worry that it's gonna be like the BetaBrand Disco line. Today I backed the duck canvas chinos, but up a size from my Japan Olives.
I'm also waiting on the Army Herringbone Chore Coat, Japan Olive jeans and Loomstates.
And I pick up my Downtown Browns when I get to New York on Saturday, saving around $55 in international shipping and other charges.
I'm disappointed that Gustin seem incapable of combining orders to save on shipping. How difficult can that be? That's probably cost me and others hundreds extra over time.

I am waiting on the heavy black apron, and two pairs of the heavy american. One for me and one for my brother. On a side note, I wear an apron for work every day and am really excited to throw away my current work apron.

I'm seriously wondering what's going on over at Gustin. There used to be regular production updates, somewhat regular community involvement, and it felt like you were part of the company that you were buying from and supporting. Production updates have been dwindling and nearly non-existant for a while, and now it seems I'm not getting shipping updates either. This is all really bothering me, as someone who really spends way too much of my income with Gustin. I'm pretty certain I'm not alone in this, but it is worrisome that they seem to be dropping off as the competition in their space is picking up. I've waited something like three or four months for chinos to come back so that I could get in on a pair of the canvas duck, and now they're there but I find I'm feeling uncomfortable now. Really looking at that indigo indigo chore, too, but feel like I should pursue other options. Anyone else bummed about the same feelings?

I don't think it's an exit. I have a feeling they're busier than they've ever been but as many of you have speculated, this is a beast that continues moving on its own accord. If it's not the old guard, there's a new stream of folks that are coming in.
It also sounded like for many of you this was your first intro to raw denim and it's natural for an entry-level play to create some fanatics that then start exploring what else is around. It's growth as you remove the training wheels so to speak. While the first crop exit, a new crop enter. It may take longer for them to back most of their offerings now, but they're still backing (whether naturally or artificially - I have my suspicions it may side more on the latter) and without engagement from the powers that be.

Tend to agree with bugula, I don't see why they'd exit now, they're selling more stuff than ever before and the Stock page must have been an eye-opener, even for them. People want to buy what Gustin are selling... and while that continues, it would be dumb to exit. After all, their whole model is based on the fact that they can't actually fail/lose money to a significant level and, even if they did, they'd know it was coming at least two months in advance.

I'm waiting for a skinny Supple16 and a slim Japan Heavy Black Workshirt.
I somehow have the feeling both won't really fit me. I sized up one for the jeans (I usually wear slim) but it's still a gamble.
For the shirt I don't have any reference point. Especially after having read that the numbers in the fit guide can't be trusted.

I think I had forgotten what they feel like when the waist comes in to spec because I put these on and there was no squeezing myself in strange ways to get into them, the top button is a little tight, but that's good. These are gonna be a great pair of jeans. They actually look lie a black x blue out of the bag, though I know they're going to be shedding that indigo dye and coming back to a blue over time. |

The work shirts are said to be coming out of a different shop, so I'm thinking I need to see how close to spec my two existing Gustin shirts are and figure out if I have any idea as to the fit of gustin shirts, and then assume the new shop is better at hitting them. Right now I have a work shirt pending in classic xl, slim xxl, and slim xl. And damn the temptation of the Japan khaki. I like the idea of that one as a light coat. |
