I don't think I've ever seen a pair of Alden boots that I wouldn't love to own.

Alden captoes in color #8 (I'm assuming) shell cordovan back up on Jcrew. I have a bunch of Jcrew gift cards I was saving to use on a suit sale that I'm considering using here.

You definintely need more shoes. But US shoes vs a Chinese suit really shouldn't be a difficult decision.

Leffot just dropped these in Color #8 shell. If there was a perfect pair of derbies in Color #8, these are it.

not bad but I'm currently a convert to the cult of the short wing The linked shoes pictures are short wings, for what it's worth. Yes, and absolutely not Bluchers or Derbies. Weird that they'd get that wrong. Although, to be fair, they are a short wing nose and long wing tail, but again, no part Blucher or Derby.

But the definition is a little loose, so this ugly thing apparently qualifies by the letter of the law, but not really intent.

Your hate for all things does serve as a nice protection against spending on needless wants. Wish I hated everything like you do.

But must be nice. Your hate for all things does serve as a nice protection against spending on needless wants. Wish I hated everything like you do. I love Aldens. Their classic Derby is timeless. So are their shortwings. This just looks unfinished or conflicted. But they're trying new things and ffs, they're not suede. You have to admit that you could pick any company and find good and bad. I'd have to think long and hard for an instance of a clothing company that doesn't make at least one item I'd like to have. Now assclown ownership or bad business practices can keep me from supporting companies, but it doesn't mean I don't like some of the product. I also tend to have everything but running shoes and cycling shoes for ten plus years, so buying classic looks just works better for me, especially if I'm throwing down $780 for them. If I had the sort of disposable income to where that felt like buying Chucks, I might rock these just for the different look. Or not, they're still ugly to my eyes, the curve of the short wing front and upper, linear broguing fit for a long wing just really looks out of sorts.

These are technically bluchers, not derbies, but it has nothing to do with the adornment ("derby" describes the lacing system and how it is attached, not how fancy the shoe is). Open-laced longwings are usually bluchers, whereas open-laced shortwings are usually derbies. The cap-toes above are derbies.

These don't fit me quite the way I'd like them to, so they're going back. But damn does Jcrew's pics not do them justice. Gorgeous boot.

I wasn't able to snag one for that price. I got mine on Saturday before the Jcrew glitch, and returned it last Friday for being a half size too small. They were out of my size for a few weeks now, and won't be restocking anytime soon. The woes of being so generically sized.
