My 15oz duck chinos showed up with at least a 17.5 in waist for size 31 -- obviously CF is confident they'll shrink 2in after washing. I'll see if they do...

I've had exactly the same thing happen even with certain more expensive brands. It is puzzling when the other measurements all seem right.
Maybe try Indigogene--I've been happy with how his slim fit jeans fit across the hips.

I was impressed with a pair of their stock jeans and an thinking of ordering a custom pair: www.companiondenim.com/Looking at the detail options...I like the idea of the selvedge one piece fly--less likely to come apart at the bottom. Anyone know if this would look bulky at the bottom where the fabric folds over?

My new pair actually feels lighter than another pair of my chinos that I know is 7oz. I asked Brave Star and they say the pants are indeed the 9oz Cramerton, but that the fabric feels lighter because it has less starch. They also say Mic bought a big supply of cloth from Cramerton before the mill closed. Good to know.

Good to know--I went ahead and ordered a pair in coal before they run out. Great fit, nice lightweight material for summer chinos.

How does Bravestar still claim to be selling Cramerton cloth chinos? The Cramerton mill closed in spring 2016. Abercrombie and Fitch had bought a bunch from Cramerton and was still making pants out of the supply in 2017. What's Bravestar doing? Tellason switched to another South Carolina mill : http://instagr.am/p/BUNR0V7B1EQ

I'd like to get the chinos. But Brave Star keeps sending me a promo code for free US shipping but NO discount for overseas shipping. That costs $30. Any discount at all would make it easier to justify making the buy...

I'm mainly waiting on the Cone Natural 16oz too. Heavy US denim + real Tennessee indigo dye = jean fabric like it was back in the day. These should look great when they get old. Hope they ship on time.

Glad to see more brown/khaki/gray pants on offer. My first pair of jeans should arrive before long--I'll see how the fit is.

You mean the 21.5 super heavyweight? I emailed to ask them, and their reply was: "It was purchased from the same supplier that we buy all of our Kurabo/Kuroki from so we are quite certain its Japanese but we can't identify the mill so we left it unsaid." My pair of true straight 21.5oz just arrived today. Fits just as expected, solid material, excellent stitching. My first pair of Brqave Star and I'm satisfied, especially for the price. Thanks for the post. Yes that is what I was referring to. I think you will be very surprised at how much you will end up liking them Any comment on the fabric? Weave? Color? As I've post before I'm looking to pick up another pair of bravestars I have been impressed with the quality. And most importantly the cuts The only other "true straight" jeans I have now are 8-year-old Levis 501s. The difference in the fabric between those and brand-new raw heavyweight is so extreme that there's no way to compare the fit. Here's a comparison photo though: Does this count as "short fly and low pockets"? Don't know what to say about weave and color. As you can see it's a deep dark blue. I've never had raw selvedge heavier than maybe 14oz, but this weave isn't supertight. If you look at the stitching on the copper-colored thread, it alternates over and under the denim threads--that can give you some idea of thickness and spacing.
